Senior Data Engineer – Portfolio Reporting and Business Intelligence

Location: Lansing, MI

Duration: 12+ months (Hybrid)

Seeking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to support portfolio reporting, business intelligence, and data analytics for the Investment Management program.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, implement, and maintain enterprise dashboards, executive scorecards, and business intelligence solutions.
• Develop standardized portfolio reporting supporting ITIF investments, project performance, and executive oversight.
• Analyze project, portfolio, financial, schedule, resource, governance, and operational data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Facilitate meetings with business stakeholders to identify reporting requirements and analytical needs.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting activities and improve reporting efficiency.

Minimum Requirements:

• A minimum of three (3), and preferably four to seven (4–7) years, of professional experience in data engineering, business intelligence, data analytics, or a related information technology discipline.
• Experience integrating, transforming, and analyzing data from multiple enterprise systems using SQL and modern data engineering techniques.
• Experience developing interactive dashboards, scorecards, and executive reporting using Microsoft Power BI or comparable business intelligence platforms.
• Experience working directly with business stakeholders to define reporting requirements, key performance indicators (KPIs), and performance measures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Project Portfolio Management (PPM) systems such as Clarity, ServiceNow PPM, or Microsoft Project Online.
• Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, or Microsoft SQL Server experience.
• Experience in government, public sector, or other large enterprise reporting environments.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or another closely related field.

Desired Certifications:

• Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate
• Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate
• Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate
• Certified Business Intelligence Professional (CBIP)
