Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join a fast-growing organization in the healthcare technology industry. The Senior Data Engineer will focus on building scalable data pipelines and a modern data platform to support analytics and operational insights. The Senior Data Engineer role requires you to live in the Washington DC area and travel onsite for important meetings.
Responsibilities of the Senior Data Engineer:
- Build and maintain production data pipelines using API ingestion, CDC, and event-driven patterns
- Develop and manage dbt models for clean, analytics-ready datasets
- Design scalable data solutions in AWS and Databricks
- Implement data quality, testing, and monitoring practices
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams on metrics and reporting
- Create dashboards and data models to support business insights
Requirements of the Senior Data Engineer:
- 5+ years of data engineering experience
- Strong SQL and Python skills
- Experience working in small start up environments
- Experience with AWS and Databricks or similar platforms
- Experience building data pipelines and ingestion frameworks (API, CDC, streaming)
- Hands-on experience with dbt preferred
- Healthcare or regulated data experience preferred
- Experience with Airflow or Databricks Workflows
Compensation for the Senior Data Engineer:
- $160,000 - $180,000
