Description & Requirements

Bloomberg runs on data. Our products are fueled by powerful information. We combine data and context to paint the whole picture for our clients, around the clock - from around the world. In Data, we are responsible for delivering this data, news, and analytics through innovative technology - quickly and accurately. We apply problem-solving skills to identify workflow efficiencies and implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products, and processes.

Our Team:

The Private Companies Data team is responsible for Bloomberg's private company data model - an essential foundation for understanding global private markets. This data defines and enriches private companies, linking them to complementary datasets such as alternative data, ESG disclosures, financials, news, and other non-foundational sources.

Private company data plays a critical role in research, investment analysis, compliance, and due diligence. Integrating diverse datasets with our core private company data helps clients uncover insights, validate exposures, monitor evolving risks, and identify new opportunities in opaque and fast-growing markets.

The Role:

We are seeking a Data Product Owner to lead the strategy, development, and integration of Bloomberg's Private Companies data model with a range of non-foundational datasets. You will own the roadmap for bringing together various datasets, including by not limited to Alternative Data, ESG metrics, Financials, and News with private company reference data-building richer insights and enabling advanced client workflows.

This role is not limited to those datasets alone. You will also be responsible for exploring and evaluating new and emerging datasets-assessing how their integration with company data can create differentiated products for Bloomberg and unlock novel value for our clients.

As the Product Owner, you'll partner closely with clients, product managers, engineering, and data specialists to research use cases, prioritize features, and deliver a cross-functional roadmap that drives innovation. You'll ensure that Bloomberg's private company data products evolve in line with market needs, scale efficiently, and remain trusted sources of insight for global clients.

We'll trust you to:

  • Own the end-to-end strategy and roadmap for Bloomberg's Private Companies data products, with a focus on integrating non-foundational datasets.
  • Define the vision of a fit-for-purpose private company data model, continuously aligning it with evolving client workflows in research, investment, and compliance.
  • Research and validate use cases across private markets, identifying opportunities to connect company data with alternative data, ESG, financials, news, and other emerging datasets.
  • Lead discovery and prioritization activities to evaluate dataset needs-including structure, coverage, transparency, and delivery.
  • Translate client and stakeholder feedback into actionable requirements and define acceptance criteria for integrations and enhancements.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to design data linkages and delivery models that maximize usability across products.
  • Monitor data product health metrics such as completeness, coverage, linkages, and workflow adoption.
  • Champion the importance of integrated private company data across Bloomberg, driving awareness of its role in client-facing workflows.
  • Stay current on trends in private markets, data integration, and emerging non-traditional datasets.

You'll Need to Have:

  • 4+ years of experience working within the domain of financial or private markets data.
  • Strong domain knowledge of private company research workflows and how private data is created, maintained, and consumed.
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager for data platforms or large-scale datasets.
  • The ability to define a product vision and communicate it clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience developing product roadmaps, managing backlogs, and leading cross-functional delivery in Agile or hybrid environments.
  • A data-driven mindset with comfort using metrics and KPIs to assess product performance and guide prioritization.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working across Product, Engineering, and Data teams.

We'd Love to See:

  • Awareness of emerging trends in private markets, including alt data and ESG measurement.
  • Familiarity with financial workflows that rely on integrated private company data, such as due diligence, investment analysis, and regulatory compliance.
  • Understanding of third-party data providers and strategies for integration.
  • Experience navigating ambiguity in complex, evolving markets.
