Senior Data Strategy Consultant

Location: Newport Beach, CA - Hybrid (4 Days Onsite)

Pay Rate: $90-$95/hr

Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Strategy & Reporting Consultant to assess the current operational data landscape and develop a roadmap for improving reporting, measurement, and decision-making capabilities. This is a consultative leadership role requiring both strong technical expertise and the ability to evaluate current-state environments, identify gaps, and recommend practical future-state solutions.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in data analytics, reporting, business intelligence, data strategy, or related consulting roles.

• Strong consultant mindset with experience assessing current-state data environments and making strategic recommendations.

• Proven ability to evaluate complex data ecosystems and create actionable roadmaps for improvement.

• Strong knowledge of data visualization and business intelligence tools, including:

• Power BI

• Tableau

• Similar BI and reporting platforms

• Ability to engage and influence stakeholders across Operations, Technology, Data Intelligence, and Finance.

• Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and executive-facing consulting skills.

Responsibilities

• Review existing operational reports, dashboards, data sources, and reporting capabilities.

• Assess data quality, completeness, consistency, and integrity of operational metrics.

• Identify gaps in workload visibility, including:

• Manual processes

• Rework activities

• Work performed outside core workflow platforms

• Outsourced operations

• Evaluate current reporting capabilities and accessibility of business-critical data.

• Assess governance practices, including metric ownership, accountability, and standard definitions across business functions.

• Determine data requirements for:

• Staffing models

• Capacity planning

• Forecasting

• Productivity measurement

• Automation initiatives

• Operational planning

• Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and improve operational reporting.

• Develop a prioritized roadmap outlining recommendations, dependencies, sequencing, effort estimates, and quick wins.

• Recommend a sustainable governance framework to ensure ongoing metric integrity and consistency.

• Evaluate organizational structure, team alignment, capacity, and skill sets supporting operational reporting and data management.

• Provide recommendations for future-state operating models and team structures.
