Overlake Medical Center & Clinics is seeking a Senior Database Administrator with experience in Healthcare and EPIC system to partner with application, reporting, and analytics teams to support data integration and ETL processes, enforce database security and access controls, and maintain high availability and business continuity across enterprise database environments

Position Overview

The Senior Database Administrator - Epic Cogito is responsible for the configuration, monitoring, and support of Epic's enterprise reporting systems and data infrastructure. This role ensures optimal performance of reporting databases and analytics solutions, serving as a key technical resource for data availability, system reliability, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Remote (Requires Washington State Residency)

Core Responsibilities:

  • Cogito Platform Administration - Administer Epic Cogito platforms including Clarity, Caboodle, SlicerDicer, and Radar. Install, configure, and maintain data warehouse databases and reporting environments.
  • ETL & Data Pipeline Management - Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot ETL processes and data pipelines to ensure data accuracy and timeliness. Manage data extraction jobs, resolve ETL failures, and address data quality issues.
  • Database Performance & Capacity Planning - Support capacity planning, performance tuning, and database optimization, including SQL Server indexing strategies and database growth management.
  • Reporting & Analytics Support - Partner with report developers and BI teams to ensure data availability and support the development and maintenance of data models, dashboards, and analytics use cases.
  • System Maintenance & Upgrades - Coordinate system patches, Epic upgrades, environment refreshes, release cycles, and migration activities while ensuring system uptime, proactive monitoring, and effective incident response.
  • Security & Compliance - Implement and maintain security controls, access management, and audit compliance across reporting environments.
  • Documentation & Standards - Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational standards to support consistency and knowledge sharing.
  • On-Call Support - Provide on-call support for critical reporting or data issues as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree. Equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as DBA required, preferable in a healthcare environment.

  • Epic Cogito Certification - Clarity and/or Caboodle (required)

  • 3+ years of experience supporting Epic reporting environments

  • Strong proficiency in SQL Server and relational databases, including stored procedures, query optimization, and indexing

  • Hands-on experience with ETL tools, workflows, and data integration

  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts (EDW, star schema, dimensional modeling)

  • Working knowledge of Epic Cogito tools, including Clarity, Caboodle, SlicerDicer, and Radar

  • Experience with healthcare data models and familiarity with clinical and operational data structures

  • Understanding of healthcare workflows and regulatory requirements

  • Experience with BI/reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SAP BusinessObjects, or similar enterprise analytics platforms
