This position will be responsible for the design, analysis, and release of customer-requested thermal management programs.Job FunctionsDemonstrates expert level of design and analysis skillsResponsible for creating/implementing customer-driven designs with minimal supervisionWill specify materials and analyze structures for robustness, cost, and risk of designsLead Design FMEA's with cross-functional groups including Logistics, Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Purchasing, Quality, Suppliers, and Tooling/FixturesUtilize quality process control as outlined in industry standard protocolsWill be the technical contact in support of sales and is expected to maintain/grow relationships with the customerFlexibility to travel both domestically and internationallySupport manufacturing as needed for prototyping or production launchesAbility to direct designers/drafters who are providing project supportPerform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned or departmentally definedUses leadership skills and sound business judgment to support sales volume and profitsEstablishes strong, lasting relationships with customersEssential Technical SkillsMust demonstrate a strong ability to design engine cooling and climate control components and have extensive knowledge in the physics of heat transfer and fluid flow phenomenon as applied to vehiclesThis position requires an extensive knowledge of the application of materials including ferrous and non-ferrous metalsStrong analytical skills including heat transfer analysis, stress analysis, and energy balances within thermal systemsApplies sound analysis methods in the evaluation of heat transfer and structural requirementsDemonstrates a high level of competency with solid modeling design softwareDemonstrates a strong understanding of production methods and the concept of designing for manufacturabilityShould possess solid background in the processes of welding, brazing, and metal formingMust possess strong project management skills and employs the use of computer-based prediction and tracking tools such as Microsoft Project and ExcelExperience in the use of quality tools such as FMEAs, Design of Experiments, SPC, etc.Works with manufacturing personnel in order to design product consistent with current processes and their associated capabilityEffectively solves design-related problems identified during the fabrication and assembly of product and provides support as appropriate to shop personnelPrepares appropriate documentation related to design and engineering activities through the application of industry drafting standards which includes geometric tolerancingUse product data management systems to store CAD files and perform change managementEducation and Experience RequirementsSelf-starter with the ability to operate well independentlyFive plus years of design experience in an OEM manufacturing environmentMinimum of 3 years' experience with a parametric-based CAD softwareExperience in sheet metal design and weldmentsExperience in thermal management products and processes (brazing) a plusMinimum of a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Master's Degree in Engineering Management, or an MBA a plus#J-18808-Ljbffr
