Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus 6 months relevant experience.

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:

As a Platform Engineer for AN/BYG-1 and Tactical Control Systems programs, you’ll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for developing and software automation pipelines enabling a seamless developer experience. This team is responsible for the design, integration, and maintenance of the software development production pipelines, both in a laboratory environment and onboard U.S. Navy submarines and ships. You will continuously focus on removing hurdles to enable rapid capability development experience by software and infrastructure developers, utilizing the best in breed practices and technologies.

 

We encourage you to apply if you have any of these preferred skills or experiences: 

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, Linux OS level integration, scripting (bash, Python), and deployment of production-quality software.
  • Experience with automating infrastructure and tools to streamline operations, deployment, and monitoring processes.
  • Experience with design, implementation, and maintenance of containerized environments (using Docker, Padman, Kubernetes etc.).

 

What Sets You Apart:

  • Red Hat Linux or CentOS Administration background with a working knowledge of systems.
  • Working knowledge of DevOps tools such as Quay, Nexus, Grafana, ArgoCD and Jenkins/Bamboo.
  • You have a passion for pain-free developer experience and understand the pain points developers experience in developing and shipping new features into production.
  • You stay up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies and proactively find opportunities to operational them.
  • Ability to work in a flexible environment that embraces rapid change, emphasizes continuous learning, and attack new challenges.
  • Clear understanding of the software engineering concepts, principles, theories, software development process, and agile methodology.
  • Clear understanding of the software development process, with agile experience.
  • Ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and handle increasing responsibilities with growing complexity.
  • Team player who thrives in collaborative environments and revels in team success.
  • Ability to collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance and ensured seamless integration of new features.
