Position Overview
Los Angeles County is seeking a Senior DevOps Programmer to lead and support complex application development, system integration, DevOps, ERP, and infrastructure initiatives.
The successful candidate will be responsible for application design, development, testing, deployment, system configuration, troubleshooting, performance optimization, documentation, and technical support.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and refine system requirements and develop technical solutions.
- Design application and system architecture.
- Develop, debug, test, maintain, and implement applications.
- Develop application components and integrate hardware/software systems.
- Support application testing with customers and business stakeholders.
- Ensure software quality, security, functionality, and compliance.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation.
- Support operating systems and systems engineering activities.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend technical solutions.
- Incorporate information security and assurance practices into application and operating environments.
Required Technical Skills
- Application development principles and methodologies.
- Unix, Linux, and Windows installation, configuration, and administration.
- CGI Advantage 3.11 & 4.x ERP applications.
- Oracle databases.
- IBM WebSphere/InfoSphere installation, patching, and SSL certificate renewal.
- CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance.
- Python, Shell, Bash, or similar scripting.
- Jenkins, GitHub, ArgoCD.
- Rancher, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
- Control-M or similar batch scheduling tools.
- SFTP, FileZilla, WinSCP or similar secure file-transfer tools.
- Beyond Compare and Visual Studio Code.
- Jira, Azure DevOps, Cherwell.
- Splunk and other monitoring tools.
- Database management, data modeling, data warehousing, and transaction processing.
- System scalability, reliability, maintainability, and performance optimization.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Required Experience
- 7+ years of experience in electronic data processing systems study, design, and programming.
- 4+ years of experience in a lead capacity.
Additional Required Experience
- 4+ years within the last 5 years: CI/CD pipelines, Python/Shell/Bash scripting, Jenkins, GitHub, and ArgoCD.
- 3+ years within the last 5 years: Rancher, Kubernetes, container orchestration, and Control-M or similar batch scheduling.
- 2+ years within the last 3 years: CGI Advantage 3.11/4.x ERP applications, Oracle databases, and IBM WebSphere/InfoSphere installation, patching, and SSL certificate renewal.
- 1+ year within the last 3 years: Linux/Unix Systems Administration and experience working within a formal change-control process.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Additional qualifying experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
