These pillars form the foundation of our company-wide commitment to sustainability, helping us achieve our ambitious goals through our wide-ranging initiatives.

Job Description:

Role Overview

The Senior Director, Accounting Systems will lead Novolex’s Finance-owned accounting systems capabilities, including consolidation, close enablement, financial data governance, and reporting integrity across a complex, multi-ERP environment.

Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, this leader will connect accounting, consolidation, systems, and data to ensure financial information is complete, controlled, traceable, and ready for enterprise reporting and analytics.

The role owns Finance requirements for system design, data definitions, mappings, hierarchies, reconciliations, financial controls, and reporting outputs.

The Senior Director will partner closely with IT leaders to translate Finance requirements into scalable, controlled, and supportable technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Ownership of Accounting Systems

  • Lead Finance-side administration, governance, and continuous improvement of core accounting systems, including consolidation and close tools such as OneStream and BlackLine, across multiple ERP environments.
  • Deliver consistent, reliable financial outputs in a fragmented systems landscape.
  • Define and maintain the Finance-owned systems framework, including accounting requirements, consolidation design, close dependencies, reporting structures, financial hierarchies, and governance routines.

Consolidation & Close Ownership

  • Own the end-to-end consolidation process, including OneStream Finance outcomes, consolidation design, close calendar dependencies, and reporting integrity.
  • Ensure close and reporting processes are accurate, timely, controlled, repeatable, and sustainable.
  • Improve transparency and control over consolidated results and serve as the Finance escalation point for complex accounting, close, consolidation, and reporting issues.

Financial Data, Mapping & Reporting Integrity

  • Define data mappings, chart of accounts alignment, hierarchies, metadata, transformation logic, reconciliation expectations, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Partner with IT to embed Finance requirements into enterprise data and reporting solutions.
  • Ensure financial data is complete, consistent, traceable, and reliable across accounting systems, consolidation platforms, and reporting outputs.

Partnership with IT Applications

  • Partner with IT to translate Finance requirements into system configuration, integrations, releases, enhancements, support processes, and vendor actions.
  • Provide Finance prioritization and acceptance criteria for technology changes that affect accounting systems, consolidation, close, reporting, and financial data flows.
  • Ensure Finance requirements are clearly defined before technology teams execute extraction, integration, automation, or platform changes.

Reporting & Analytics Enablement

  • Enable consistent, reliable financial data for reporting and analytics.
  • Support the transition to scalable, decision-grade financial reporting.
  • Align accounting outputs, enterprise reporting structures, and Finance-approved definitions.

Transformation Leadership

  • Represent accounting systems in broader finance, ERP, data, and reporting transformation initiatives.
  • Translate accounting, close, consolidation, and reporting needs into practical system and data improvements.
  • Drive Finance readiness, process adoption, data validation, and business acceptance for system and reporting changes.

Controls & Governance

  • Establish and maintain Finance-owned controls over metadata, hierarchy updates, mapping changes, consolidation rules, reporting logic, and close-related processes.
  • Partner with IT to ensure SOX, ITGC, access, release, integration, and cybersecurity controls are appropriately designed and executed.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements with clear documentation of Finance-owned system and data governance decisions.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop the Accounting Systems team.
  • Assess and realign team structure to support future-state systems, data integration, consolidation, and reporting needs.
  • Build scalable Finance capabilities in systems governance, data validation, close support, and reporting enablement.

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in accounting, finance systems, consolidation, financial reporting, or related roles.
  • Direct experience owning financial consolidation across multiple ERP systems into a centralized platform such as OneStream, Hyperion, or a similar tool.
  • Hands-on experience defining and managing data mappings, chart of accounts alignment, hierarchies, metadata, and cross-system reconciliations.
  • Proven ability to deliver consistent, accurate consolidated results in fragmented systems environments.
  • Strong understanding of financial close, consolidation, reporting, controls, and US GAAP requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with IT, Data & Analytics, and business teams on system, reporting, and integration initiatives.
  • Experience leading teams and driving cross-functional Finance transformation efforts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in environments with multiple ERP systems and complex integration challenges.
  • Experience supporting or contributing to enterprise data and analytics transformations.
  • Strong understanding of financial data structures, hierarchies, consolidation logic, and governance frameworks.
  • Experience improving close, consolidation, or reporting processes in complex environments.

What Sets You Apart

  • You can bridge accounting, systems, and data from a Finance ownership perspective.
  • You are comfortable improving imperfect, evolving systems landscapes rather than waiting for ideal-state environments.
  • You bring an ownership mindset and can translate accounting and reporting complexity into practical, scalable requirements.
  • You can influence across Finance, IT, Data & Analytics, and business teams.

Why This Role Matters

This role is central to building a single, trusted view of financial data across Novolex’s complex systems landscape. It gives Finance clear ownership of accounting, consolidation, reporting, and data integrity requirements while partnering with IT to deliver scalable, controlled, and sustainable technology solutions.
