ABOUT THE ROLE This Senior Director-level opportunity sits within the Trading Credit Risk function of a well-established global financial institution, offering senior leadership and delegated approval authority over counterparty credit risk for Private Credit funds and a broad NBFI counterparty universe spanning hedge funds, pensions, insurance companies, CCPs, banks, sovereigns, and broker-dealers. The role carries genuine credit authority adjudicating complex CCR facilities and transactions, shaping credit policies, managing deteriorating credits, and providing strategic direction to senior credit risk managers across a globally integrated platform. With oversight extending across Canada, US, Europe, and Asia Pacific and direct engagement with trading floor businesses, regulators, and external clients, this is the right seat for a seasoned CCR professional with deep private credit and NBFI expertise who combines strong independent judgment with executive presence and the ability to partner credibly at the most senior levels of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Provide senior leadership and accountability for the management of counterparty credit risk and financing functions globally as they apply to NBFI-Private Credit;adjudicate counterparty credit facilities and transactions covering private credit funds, hedge funds, pensions, insurance companies, sovereigns, banks, dealers, SPVs, and CCPs
- Exercise delegated approval authority for credit adjudications within the incumbent's DAA;provide direction to senior CCR managers on accounts within their DAA;provide recommendations to Senior Vice President or Executive Vice President on accounts exceeding the incumbent's authority
- Assist in managing the Global Markets Financing Risk Operating Framework covering repo, loan warehouse and CLO, securitization, securities lending, equity derivative, prime brokerage, and commodity and metals businesses across US$120B+ of financing activities globally
- Work in partnership with business leaders across Global Markets and Corporate Banking to ensure products, transactions, and client strategies are commensurate with the firm's CCR appetite;establish key performance metrics for credit quality across covered portfolios
- Establish and recommend product and client-related credit policies shaping strategies across Private Credit funds, Hedge Funds, Pension Funds, Sovereigns, Insurance Companies, Asset Managers, Prime Brokerage, Broker-Dealers, and Banks
- Ensure risk ratings are objective, transparent, and reflective of each transaction's risk profile;provide effective management of higher-risk or deteriorating credits;accumulate and communicate relevant industry knowledge across the designated portfolio
- Keep senior management and Credit Committee apprised of significant developments across covered industries;prepare and deliver written and oral presentations to Credit Committee as required
- Engage directly with external clients when product knowledge, credit skills, or confidentiality requirements necessitate senior-level contact;participate in industry forums and client meetings to maintain required industry expertise
- Interface with regulators including OSFI, SEC, Federal Reserve, and NFA;support internal and external audit examinations on credit quality, policies, procedures, and legal and reputation risk matters
- Provide expert input into the development and maintenance of risk rating models;ensure all aspects of the Bank's Global Reputation and Legal Risk Policy are met
