Job Summary

The Senior Director, Financial Analytics & Intelligence provides strategic leadership for enterprise financial analytics, reporting, and operational intelligence activities supporting Finance, Revenue Cycle, and executive leadership. This role is responsible for advancing financial analytics capabilities, delivering actionable business intelligence, and supporting data-driven decision-making across a large, multi-hospital healthcare system. The Senior Director partners with Finance, Revenue Cycle, Enterprise Data Science & Analytics, and operational leaders to improve data quality, enhance reporting capabilities, modernize analytical processes, and develop scalable solutions that support organizational priorities.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as the primary analytics and operational intelligence partner to Finance, Revenue Cycle, and executive leadership, translating complex financial and operational data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Provides leadership for enterprise financial analytics and reporting activities, ensuring continuity, reliability, and effectiveness of critical reporting and intelligence functions.
  • Leads analysis of financial and revenue cycle performance, including accounts receivable, reimbursement, payer mix, denials, bad debt, productivity, expense management, and related operational initiatives.
  • Identifies emerging risks, performance trends, and improvement opportunities and develops analytical solutions that improve organizational visibility and decision-making.
  • Establishes prioritization processes for recurring reporting, executive requests, data quality initiatives, reporting enhancements, and strategic analytical projects.
  • Leads complex analytical investigations and executive-level reporting initiatives while balancing operational priorities and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Develops and implements controls, validation processes, and audit methodologies to improve the quality, reliability, and usability of financial and operational data.
  • Analyzes financial, revenue cycle, and clinical-financial workflows, including coding, billing, and charge capture processes, to develop scalable reporting solutions and performance metrics.
  • Partners with enterprise Data Science & Analytics, Data Engineering, and operational stakeholders to modernize analytics processes through automation, improved accessibility, enhanced scalability, and sustainable reporting solutions.
  • Leads, develops, and mentors analytics professionals while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum quarterly travel expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Analytics, Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field required
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) preferred
  • A combination of education and significant related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in healthcare financial analytics, revenue cycle analytics, healthcare performance management, financial operations, or a related field required
  • 5-7 years of experience leading and developing analytics, reporting, or business intelligence teams required
  • Experience in a large, multi-hospital healthcare system preferred
  • Experience leading analytics modernization, process improvement, organizational transformation, or reporting optimization initiatives preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of healthcare finance and revenue cycle operations, including accounts receivable, reimbursement, denials, productivity, bad debt, payer mix, service-line performance, and clinical-financial analytics.
  • Knowledge of modern analytics architectures, data pipelines, SQL, and enterprise business intelligence platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar technologies.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable analytical solutions in partnership with enterprise analytics and data engineering teams.
  • Knowledge of Oracle-based financial environments, including Oracle Fusion, Financial Data Intelligence (FDI), and related reporting technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based analytics platforms and tools such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Azure, Oracle Cloud, Python, or similar technologies.
  • Strong leadership, team development, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and executive-level communication skills with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) preferred or
  • Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA) preferred or
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
