  • Role: Senior Director GEO
    Commercial Excellence | Life Sciences

    You will be responsible for: This is an executive leadership role and the highest individual authority within Indegene's Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) practice. As Senior Director GEO Practice, you will own the end-to-end charter for building, scaling, and positioning Indegene as the definitive leader in pharma GEO globally. You will serve as the primary executive sponsor on marquee client engagements, drive large-scale business development pursuits, define the intellectual and methodological foundations of the GEO practice, and build a high-performance team of GEO strategists, consultants, and delivery leads.
    You will work in close partnership with Indegene's Commercial Excellence leadership, account management, and cross-functional capability heads operating at the intersection of AI-driven search, life sciences commercial strategy, and enterprise digital transformation.

    Practice Leadership & Strategy
  • Define and own the multi-year vision, strategy, and go-to-market roadmap for Indegene's GEO practice within life sciences establishing the practice as a recognized market leader.
  • Set the strategic direction for how Indegene conceptualizes, sells, and delivers GEO services across pharma, biotech, and medtech client segments.
  • Build and continuously evolve Indegene's proprietary GEO methodology, frameworks, and IP covering entity optimization, LLM discoverability, structured data architecture, AI share of voice, and content authority models.
  • Monitor macro shifts in AI search, LLM evolution (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Bing Copilot, and emerging platforms) and proactively translate them into practice evolution and new service offerings.
  • Represent Indegene's GEO point of view externally at industry forums, advisory boards, conferences, and client C-suite engagements as a recognized thought leader.

  • Large Pitch Management & Business Development
  • Serve as the executive lead and strategic architect for large, complex, and multi-country GEO pursuits owning the solutioning, pricing strategy, and executive narrative in RFPs, proposals, and finalist presentations.
  • Partner with Indegene's account management and growth teams to identify and qualify GEO expansion opportunities within existing accounts and in new logo pursuits.
  • Lead executive-level discovery workshops and capability showcases with prospects' C-suite, VP, and Director-level stakeholders across brand, medical, digital, and commercial functions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with global pharma procurement, digital innovation, and commercial excellence leaders to position Indegene as a preferred GEO partner.
  • Develop win strategies for competitive situations leveraging Indegene's pharma domain expertise, proprietary GEO frameworks, and delivery track record as differentiators.
  • Contribute to revenue planning setting annual practice revenue targets, pipeline forecasts, and growth milestones in partnership with the Commercial Excellence leadership.

  • Executive Client Management & Strategic Advisory
  • Serve as the executive sponsor and senior client partner for Indegene's largest and most strategic GEO accounts owning the relationship at the VP/C-suite level.
  • Lead annual strategic reviews and executive business reviews (EBRs) with clients, translating GEO performance data into forward-looking strategic roadmaps.
  • Advise clients on AI-first digital transformation repositioning their content governance, brand digital strategy, and omnichannel architecture for an LLM-dominant search landscape.
  • Proactively identify and develop upsell, cross-sell, and expansion opportunities across GEO, SEO, content strategy, and broader Commercial Excellence services.
  • Serve as executive escalation point for client issues, delivery challenges, and strategic pivots ensuring Indegene consistently delivers on client commitments.
  • Navigate complex MLR/MedLegal environments across multiple markets, building trusted advisory relationships with clients' regulatory and medical leadership.

  • Capability Building & Talent Leadership
  • Build, lead, and grow a high-performing GEO team including GEO Consultants, Strategists, Leads, and Analysts establishing clear career pathways and performance standards.
  • Define the capability architecture for the GEO practice: roles, competency frameworks, onboarding curricula, and skills development roadmaps.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning within the team institutionalizing knowledge-sharing on AI search evolution, pharma digital trends, and GEO best practices.
  • Partner with Indegene's L&D, HR, and talent acquisition functions to attract, hire, and retain senior GEO talent in a competitive market.
  • Mentor and coach GEO Consultants and Senior Managers, developing the next generation of GEO practice leaders within Indegene.
  • Establish and govern a GEO Centre of Excellence (CoE) driving methodology standardization, tool evaluation, benchmark development, and cross-functional integration.

  • Engagement Excellence & Delivery Governance
  • Define and govern delivery standards, quality benchmarks, and escalation protocols across all active GEO engagements.
  • Ensure strategic alignment between client objectives and delivery execution conducting executive-level engagement reviews and strategic health checks.
  • Define and evolve the GEO measurement framework: AI citation rates, entity authority scores, LLM content coverage, AI share of voice, and revenue attribution ensuring consistent, client-ready reporting.
  • Oversee risk management across engagements anticipating and resolving scope, timeline, and stakeholder risk before they escalate.
  • Lead cross-functional governance with content, data, omnichannel, and technology capability heads to deliver integrated, high-impact GEO solutions.

  • Thought Leadership, IP Development & Market Positioning
  • Commission and author high-impact thought leadership white papers, industry reports, POVs, case studies, and executive briefings that cement Indegene's leadership in pharma GEO.
  • Build strategic partnerships with AI platform providers GEO Tools and industry best platforms , search intelligence vendors, and analytics platforms to expand Indegene's GEO ecosystem and tooling advantage.
  • Develop competitive intelligence programmes benchmarking Indegene's GEO methodology and outcomes against best-in-class global digital agencies and consultancies.
  • Partner with the Marketing and Communications team to leverage GEO successes into external brand-building assets.
  • Qualifications & Experience

    Education

  • MBA from a premier institution like Harvard Business School, Wharton, Kellogg, MIT Sloan, Columbia Business School, Booth, Tuck, Stern, or equivalent top-tier global business school strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced certifications in SEO/GEO, Digital Strategy, AI/ML, Analytics, or Life Sciences Digital Marketing (Google, BrightEdge, Moz, HubSpot, Semrush, Profound) are an advantage.
  • Experience Profile

  • 16 17 years of progressive experience in digital strategy, SEO, content strategy, digital marketing, or management consulting with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership or practice-building capacity.
  • Minimum at least 1 year life sciences GEO experience, LLM content strategy, AI-driven search optimization, or a directly adjacent discipline.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling digital strategy or search practices within a consulting, agency, or services organization.
  • Demonstrated success in large pitch leadership and new business development including experience winning multi-million-dollar engagements with global pharma or healthcare enterprises.
  • Strong executive presence with a track record of building trusted advisory relationships at the C-suite and VP level within global pharma, biotech, or medtech organizations.
  • Experience leading leading and growing a global, geographically distributed team with a track record of building high-performance GEO or digital strategy teams across multiple regions and time zones
  • Comfortable operating in matrixed, fast-growth environments balancing practice-building with active client delivery and business development responsibilities
  • Life Sciences Domain

  • Deep, first-hand expertise in the life sciences digital ecosystem pharma, biotech, or medtech commercial excellence, brand strategy, or omnichannel.
  • Strong understanding of HCP engagement models, DTC marketing strategy, omnichannel commercial frameworks, and MLR/MedLegal governance across major markets.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory frameworks (FDA, EMA, CDSCO) and their implications for digital content, AI-generated visibility, and search discoverability.
  • Familiarity with therapy area commercial dynamics ( Example: oncology, rare disease, CNS, metabolic, immunology) and how brand positioning maps to search and AI discoverability.
  • Technical & Functional Skills

  • GEO & AI Search: Entity optimization, Schema.org structured data, knowledge graph integration, LLM content attribution, prompt-influenced content architecture, AI share of voice measurement.
