Our client is an emerging biopharmaceutical company developing therapies in CNS / Neuroscience, with a focus on areas of significant unmet patient need. They are looking to add a Senior Director, Global Head of Medical Affairs, to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$300k - $380k, Depending on experience, qualifications, and overall fit.

Position Overview:
The experienced Senior Director, Global Head of Medical Affairs, will help shape and scale the company's medical affairs strategy across a developing CNS / Neuroscience portfolio. This individual will play a key role in building medical affairs capabilities, supporting cross-functional planning, and preparing the organization for future external engagement and potential commercialization activities. This role is ideal for a hands-on, strategic medical affairs leader who can operate effectively in a fast-moving environment, partner across clinical, scientific, and business functions, and translate complex scientific information into a clear medical strategy. The position is well-suited for someone who enjoys building infrastructure, developing teams, and creating scalable approaches that support long-term organizational growth.

Responsibilities of the Senior Director, Global Head of Medical Affairs:
  • Establish and lead the medical affairs function to support CNS / Neuroscience portfolio strategy, future launch readiness, and long-term organizational objectives.
  • The Senior Director, Global Head of Medical Affairs, will build, mentor, and manage medical affairs capabilities across key functional areas, including field medical, medical information, and scientific communications.
  • Develop processes, standards, and operating models that allow the medical affairs organization to scale effectively as business needs evolve.
  • Guide medical communication activities, external scientific engagement, educational initiatives, and publication-related planning.
  • The Senior Director, Global Head of Medical Affairs, will collaborate closely with clinical development, research, commercial planning, market access, and other internal stakeholders to ensure scientific alignment across programs.
  • Represent the medical perspective in strategic planning discussions, external expert engagement, and broader cross-functional initiatives.
  • Help evaluate medical insights, stakeholder needs, and evolving scientific information to inform business and portfolio priorities.
Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Director, Global Head of Medical Affairs:
  • Proven experience leading medical affairs strategy within a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related life sciences environment.
  • CNS/Neuroscience therapeutic area experience is required.
  • Demonstrated success building teams, processes, or medical affairs capabilities in a growing organization.
  • Strong ability to partner across clinical, scientific, commercial, and operational teams.
  • Experience translating complex scientific and clinical information into clear medical strategy.
  • Strong executive presence, communication skills, and ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate in a hands-on leadership role within a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Director, Global Head of Medical Affairs:
  • Experience in a smaller, emerging, or growth-stage life sciences organization.
  • Background supporting programs through late-stage development, launch preparation, or early commercialization.
  • Experience working with external experts, advocacy groups, professional organizations, or scientific stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with global medical affairs planning, medical governance, and cross-functional portfolio strategy.
  • Experience building or overseeing field medical, medical information, scientific communications, or related medical affairs capabilities.
Education Requirements:
  • An advanced scientific or clinical degree is required, such as MD, Ph.D., Pharm.D., or equivalent.
