Who We Are
Sphero engages students with high quality hands-on STEM, robotics, and CTE solutions. Our accessible classroom learning and competition offerings build skills and confidence in the classroom and beyond. Together with educators, we inspire and prepare the next generation of problem solvers and innovators.
What You Will Do
Sphero is seeking a strategic, data-driven and highly execution-oriented Senior Director of Global Marketing to lead the day-to-day marketing organization and build a scalable demand-generation engine that returns the business to sustainable growth. This leader will translate company strategy into integrated marketing programs that create qualified pipeline, deepen customer relationships, strengthen the Sphero brand and enable growth across both direct and channel-led markets.
The role sits at the center of Sphero's go-to-market model. In the U.S., marketing must work tightly with a relationship-driven direct sales organization that navigates complex K-12 buying processes. Internationally, marketing must equip distributors and resellers with programs, tools and localized assets that help them create demand and win in their markets. The successful candidate will be both a builder and an operator: able to set strategy, lead a team, establish disciplined processes and personally drive execution when needed.
Responsibilities:
Demand Generation & Pipeline Growth
- Build and scale a fully integrated multi-channel demand generation engine (email, paid media, SEO/SEM, webinars, events, etc.) that consistently fills the direct sales pipeline and drives eCommerce traffic and conversion.
- Own lead generation, scoring, nurture, and marketing-qualified-lead (MQL) to sales-qualified-lead (SQL) handoff processes, in close partnership with sales leadership.
- Develop account-based marketing programs for strategic districts, buying groups and high-value segments, in close partnership with Sales.
Sales Partnership & Revenue Enablement
- Serve as the primary marketing partner to the direct sales organization, tailoring programs to a relationship-driven, complex, consultative sale (e.g., account-based marketing, district-level targeting, sales enablement content).
- Translate customer and market insights into campaigns, tools and messaging that improve prospecting, executive conversations, opportunity progression and win rates.
- Develop and maintain high impact sales enablement assets — pitch decks, case studies, ROI/impact tools, competitive positioning — that support a longer, multi-stakeholder K-12 buying cycle.
- Align campaign timing and messaging to K-12 budget and procurement cycles (school-year calendar, RFPs, E-rate and grant funding windows, etc.).
Channel Partner Marketing
- Build a scalable international channel marketing program: co-branded campaigns, localized content, market development funds (MDF), partner training, and toolkits that enable resellers to generate demand in their own markets.
- Partner with international sales/channel leadership to prioritize investment across regions and partners based on growth potential.
Product Marketing & Go to Market Strategy
- Lead market positioning, messaging architecture and value propositions across Sphero's portfolio.
- Partner with Product and Sales on product launches, portfolio priorities, market segmentation, pricing/value communication and go-to-market plans.
- Develop differentiated messaging for district leaders, administrators, instructional leaders, educators, technology leaders and channel partners.
- Own competitive intelligence and ensure Sales and Marketing understand market trends, competitor moves, customer needs and Sphero's differentiated value.
Brand, Positioning & Content
- Protect and evolve Sphero's brand positioning and messaging for a post-ESSER K-12 market, sharpening the value proposition for administrators, educators, and procurement stakeholders.
- Set the editorial and content strategy across thought leadership, customer stories, product education, website, social media, PR and community programs — that builds credibility and trust with the education community.
- Strengthen Sphero's position as a trusted leader in hands-on STEM, computer science and future-ready learning.
eCommerce & Digital Marketing
- Own the performance of Sphero's eCommerce marketing channels, including website experience, SEO/SEM, paid social, email/lifecycle marketing, and conversion rate optimization.
- Optimize website journeys, conversion paths, merchandising, lifecycle programs and digital campaigns using data and experimentation.
- Use eCommerce behavior and first-party data to generate insights and identify opportunities for direct sales engagement, cross-sell and retention.
Marketing Operations, Budget & Analytics
- Build the measurement framework for marketing, including dashboards for funnel performance, pipeline contribution, campaign ROI, channel performance and customer acquisition economics.
- Manage the marketing technology stack (CRM, marketing automation, analytics/attribution tools) to ensure clean data, accurate reporting, and scalable operations.
- Own the marketing budget, allocating spend across channels and partners to maximize return, and report regularly on performance against goals to the VP of Sales and Marketing and executive team.
Team Leadership
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing marketing team, and manage relationships with outside agencies and freelance/contract resources as needed.
- Set clear goals, provide coaching, and create a culture of accountability, creativity, and data-driven decision-making.
- Manage agencies, contractors and technology partners to extend internal capabilities efficiently.
- Serve as a strategic marketing voice on the Sales & Marketing leadership team and across Sphero.
Strategic Planning
- Partner with the VP of Sales and Marketing to develop the annual marketing strategy, plan, and budget in support of company revenue and growth targets.
- Bring an outside-in perspective on K-12 market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging demand generation tactics to inform strategy.
Requirements:
- 8–12+ years of progressive marketing experience, including leading teams that demonstrated success building and scaling demand generation programs; B2B, B2G, or education-market experience strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of People leadership experience, with the ability to build and develop a small, high-performing team while also operating hands-on.
- Proven track record partnering closely with sales teams on a complex, relationship-driven, multi-stakeholder sales motion (education, government, or enterprise sales experience a strong plus).
- Experience with channel/partner marketing, ideally in an international or multi-region context.
- eCommerce and digital marketing expertise (SEO/SEM, paid media, email/lifecycle, conversion optimization).
- Current hands-on experience using HubSpot Marketing Hub and HubSpot CRM is required, including marketing automation, lead scoring, workflows, reporting, campaign management, and lifecycle marketing.
- Strong command of demand generation, lifecycle marketing, product marketing, sales enablement, digital marketing and marketing operations.
- Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into budget and channel decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a remote environment; comfortable presenting strategy and results to executive leadership.
- Passion for education and/or STEM learning is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, or a related field; MBA a plus.
- Must be able to travel to our Texas warehouse location for the first two days of employment to participate in new hire onboarding (company-paid travel provided).
- Occasional travel is required based on business needs, including company meetings, conferences, customer events, and professional development opportunities.
- Must reside in and be authorized to work in the United States.
