Purpose
The primary emphasis of this position is driving profitable sales and customer satisfaction for the Division through the coordination of store support center resources. The Senior Director of Sales Support is a liaison between merchandising, support, and retail operations. The role is charged with ensuring successful implementation, execution and performance of sales initiatives. The Senior Director of Sales Support is responsible for overseeing several division teams to accomplish this task including, Food-Safety, Risk Management, Asset Protection, Ecommerce, Shrink, Front End, Construction, Maintenance, and Facilities. This role develops and tracks cost savings initiatives for the Division with an emphasis on building efficiency.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
GENERAL

MARKETING EXECUTION
- Drive retail marketing execution by understanding division marketing, merchandising and programming priorities and supporting through both retail operations and functional groups.
- Oversee training development and reinforcement of best practices to store staff to ensure retail execution goals are met or exceeded.
ECOMMERCE
- Manage and oversee ecommerce operations for DUG and Home Delivery. Role will oversee all elements including capital planning, staffing, training and development, marketing and ongoing execution.
- Goal is to deliver a differentiated offering for efficiency and perishable quality.
- Oversight of Ecommerce Team to effectively build business through customer satisfaction.
- Develops and tracks performance of KPIs. Deliver profitability of overall operations.
- Works with Retail Operations and Marketing / Merchandising to drive business, customer retention, and market share growth.
CAPITAL PLANNING
- Working with key leaders, develop forward looking capital strategies that best support Division's vision of the future, while achieving the best return on capital.
- Coordinate Marketing & Merchandising, Retail Operations and Functional Groups with regards to capital planning to build efficiency and reduce waste.
BACKSTAGE FUNCTIONAL GROUP OVERSIGHT
- Create exceptionalism within each backstage functional group, with clear goals and timebound benchmarks for each.
- Effectively develop and manage the budgets, programs and strategies of each of the functional areas; seeking to increase efficiency, production, and improve cost controls.
- Oversee setting and managing budgets for store repairs and RFSC (Retail Facilities Service Center, NSC).
- Oversee operational metrics and partner with division Finance and District Managers to look for opportunities to reduce costs or avoid regulatory fines and ensure customer/employee safety.
- Oversee direct reports in the development of strategies and best practices across the division, and track and monitor these metrics to ensure accountability and compliance with division programs for all support areas.
- Regularly travels to store locations throughout banner to gather feedback, inspect conditions, identify opportunities for additional profitable sales, communicate expectations and serve as a resource for questions.
- Represent the division and Company in all compliance complaints and charges including but not limited to; OSHA, state, federal and local regulatory agencies as it relates to Safety, Food Safety, and CSR.
- Oversee the monitoring of store operations and safety program initiatives/accident metrics and work to reduce any accident events due to store condition issues.
- Oversee the establishment of policies and procedures to assure that company facilities are in compliance with environmental laws and regulations. Facilities include retail stores, fuel stations (if applicable), division office and distribution centers, and supply plants. Environmental laws and regulations include those established by US EPA and state or local environmental agencies dealing with air, water, and land pollution, hazardous waste, and hazardous materials.
- Provide various company departments, such as Public Affairs, Governmental Relations, and Investor Relations, with information on current environmental programs status.
- Act as one of the division's resources on Sustainability.
PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT
- Creates an empowered team who focuses on coaching, teaching and training store teams to achieve high operational performance.
- Continuously provides developmental feedback and support.
- Creates a dynamic culture of change and transition toward using metrics and 'best practices' that will optimize performance and results.
Job Requirements
Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 10-15+ years retail operations experience including; regulatory compliance, project management.
- 5-8+ years retail operations, or equivalent experience.
- 5-8+ years people management experience.
- Highly developed organizational skills with the ability to track and manage multiple on-going operational projects and action items across the divisions.
- Ability to quickly react to an array of business reports and metrics and provide direction and guidance to staff as needed to maximize support and services for retail.
- Solid knowledge of interpreting and reviewing financial information, P & L statements and how programs can impact revenue and expense line items.
- Effectively communicates to all levels of the organization using diplomacy and persuasive skills.
- Candidly and constructively speaks up even when it's difficult to do so.
- Proven experience in managing teams includes ability to provide direction, understand resource capability and successfully drive results working with direct reports, dotted line and/or internal or external resources.
- Positively motivates others to accomplish goals, provides honest feedback in a constructive way.
- Self-motivated, assumes personal accountability for results and performance.
- Autonomously meets goals and deadlines.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 25% travel.

- Work may be performed in a temperature-controlled environment.
- Must sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- May spend long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
- May use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment during normal workday.
- Stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required in completion of job duties.
Workdays are fast paced; some evening and weekend work may be required.
