The City of Hayward is seeking a Senior Building Inspector - Electrical to serve as the technical expert for electrical inspections and code compliance. The Building Division serves Haywards residents and business community by ensuring that all buildings in the city are safe by reviewing preliminary drawings for code compliance and verifying quality of work during construction. This position performs complex inspections of commercial and industrial construction projects to ensure compliance with applicable housing, plumbing, mechanical and electrical codes, laws, and ordinances. In addition to conducting inspections and reviewing plans, the Senior Building Inspector - Electrical provides technical guidance and support to other inspectors, assists with resolving complex code issues, and serves as a resource to contractors, architects, engineers, and the public. This role requires sound judgment, strong customer service skills, and the ability to consistently interpret and apply building codes while supporting safe, high-quality development throughout the community.

Minimum Qualifications
You have:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Four (4) years of experience as a journey level electrician preferably including one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.
OR
Two (2) years of electrical inspection experience involving major commercial or industrial installations.
Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
License: Possess and maintain a valid Class C California Drivers License. Possess and maintain an International Code Council (ICC) Certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector. ICC Certification as a Commercial Combination Inspector and/or Residential Combination Inspector is highly desirable.
