Job OverviewIMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Commissioning Engineer in Chicago, IL, to support commissioning efforts that verify building systems are designed, installed, and operating in alignment with project requirements and performance goals. In this role, you will help lead project planning, document review, field verification, testing, and issue resolution while partnering with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable, high-performing outcomes. You'll also support coordination and documentation across project phases to help keep commissioning activities organized and effective.Principal ResponsibilitiesLead commissioning activities for assigned projects from planning through project closeoutDevelop and maintain commissioning plans, test procedures, and project documentationReview design and construction documents to support system performance and project requirementsCoordinate commissioning scope, schedules, and activities with clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teamsConduct site observations, equipment inspections, and field verification activitiesPerform and document functional testing of building systems and track deficiencies through resolutionPrepare reports, logs, and related documentation to communicate project status and findingsSupport issue identification, troubleshooting, and corrective action follow‑up to help achieve intended system performanceMaintain strong client communication throughout the commissioning processContribute to continuous improvement, quality, and compliance across commissioning deliverablesRequired Qualifications and SkillsBachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related fieldExperience with NETA ATS and interpreting test resultsProgressive experience in electrical commissioning, building systems, design, or construction administrationKnowledge of electrical systems and building performance verification processesAbility to review construction documents, submittals, and related project documentationAbility to perform site observations, testing, and issue tracking with strong attention to detailStrong communication and coordination skills with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teamsAbility to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate project recordsAbility to travel to project sites as neededThis position is not eligible for sponsorship.Why Join UsIMEG puts people first—with a strong focus on career growth, work‑life balance, and meaningful impact. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant.
