    Description

    Job Overview

As a Sr. Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and engineering of PCX integrated electrical/mechanical assemblies. This role combines electrical power system design with manufacturability and production optimization to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective products.

Key responsibilities include developing and creating power and control schematics, and ensuring compliance with NEC, UL, ANSI, and IEEE standards.

You will perform electrical analyses such as short-circuit and load evaluations, support equipment selection and protection schemes, and generate detailed engineering deliverables including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, layouts, and bills of materials.

In addition, you will analyze and improve manufacturing processes, workflow, equipment layout, and space utilization to enhance efficiency and product quality for integrated electrical and mechanical systems. This includes close collaboration with fabrication teams on structural design, sheet metal design, enclosure integration, and assembly processes.

The role requires ownership of multiple concurrent projects, balancing technical design, production schedules, and cost considerations. You will interface regularly with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and suppliers to resolve technical issues, support production, and ensure successful project execution.

    A Day In The Life

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in electro/mechanical system design, controls engineering, and mechanical integration, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in an independent, fast-paced environment.

    • Lead the design and development of modular, skid-based low-voltage switchgear systems or mechanical systems tailored for data center applications.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, production, and sales to ensure project requirements are met.
    • Utilize advanced engineering techniques and tools to create efficient, reliable, and cost-effective designs.
    • Conduct and oversee detailed design calculations and simulations to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
    • Prepare comprehensive engineering documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
    • Stay abreast of technological advancements and changes in relevant standards to continually improve product design and functionality.
    • Manage multiple projects independently and simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
    • Participate in customer meetings, providing technical expertise and support during the pre-sales and post-sales process.
    • Lead the testing and validation of new designs, ensuring they meet all required performance criteria.

What will help you thrive in this role?

    • Bachelor's degree Electrical Engineering, a Masters degree preferred
    • 7+ years of experience in electrical design engineering, with a strong focus on electro/mechanical systems and integration.
    • Proficient in engineering software (e.g., 2-D AutoCAD, or equivalent) Familiarity with Revit, CFD thermal software tools, and Electrical analysis tools (ETAP, SKM, etc.)
    • Strong understanding of relevant industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NEC, UL, ETL).
    • Working Knowledge of ASCE, ASME, ASTM, ASHREA Standards.
    • Experience working within a Product Data Management (PDM) system (Autodesk Vault Professional, SolidWorks PDM Professional, Wind Chill etc.).
    • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, (SAP, etc.).
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically.
    • Strong leadership skills and experience in managing engineering teams.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
