Job Opportunity: Senior Electrical Engineer

AECOM has a Senior Electrical Engineer position available in Arlington, VA.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead/develop teams to complete both small and large projects.
  • Experience with both internal and external clients.
  • Serve as a Discipline Leader for our Arlington team.
  • Complete electrical power and lighting designs for projects of all sizes.
  • Make major design recommendations and design decisions.
  • Plan design work, calculate costs, and prepare schedules to assign design duties to junior staff.
  • Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines such as mechanical, communications, structural, ITS, civil, clerical, and equipment suppliers.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and design data for permanent project files.
  • Act as an adviser and reviews correspondence prepared by junior project team members.
  • Evaluate project staffing requirements, analyze problems, and write reports.
  • Attend project meetings, or when appropriate, delegates activities.
  • Meet with clients, prepare proposals and presentations while maintaining good client relations.
  • Lead project quality control.
  • Have knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans and drawings.
  • Switch between work on multiple/different projects daily.
  • Represent the organization and maintain liaison with individuals and related organizations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering plus 8 years of relevant experience or a combination of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Virginia or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of start date.
  • Experience working on various electrical systems.
  • Due to the nature of this work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Electrical Engineering with 10 years of recent relevant experience.
  • Recent, previous experience with VDOT projects.
  • Experience designing low and medium voltage power distribution systems.
  • Electrical code knowledge including National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Experience scoping and drafting fees for electrical engineering components of interdisciplinary project work.
  • Experience in Electrical Power Calculation Software, including: SKM and ETAP.
  • Lighting calculation experience with AGI32.
  • Experience with NFPA, ISA, and IEEE Regulatory Codes.
  • Experience using Microsoft programs and BIM software (primarily Revit and AutoCAD).
  • Experience in the following markets: Corporate Workplace and Commercial buildings, Federal Civilian and DoD, Healthcare, Mission Critical, Justice, and Higher Education projects.
  • Ability to manage and work on multiple projects with other team members.
