Electrical Engineer 3 to join our team in Bothell, WA. This is a fully onsite, individual contributor role reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. This is a business-critical hire: our Director of Technology (senior EE) is fully focused on developing our next-generation neuromodulation ultrasound technology, and this role will take on day-to-day electrical engineering ownership. You will drive PCB/PCBA design end-to-end, grow into engineering change order (ECO) sign-off, mentor 1–2 junior electrical engineers, and become strong enough to backfill for the team's senior EE. Success in this role means becoming a trusted, independent owner of our electrical engineering function within 12 months.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Design & Development: Own PCB/PCBA design end-to-end schematic capture and layout (Altium preferred), prototype bring-up, and design reviews for ultrasonic transducer and drive system electronics.
Production Oversight: Oversee production of outsourced PCBs and work with manufacturing partners and vendors on builds and issue resolution.
Testing & Characterization: Develop test fixtures and bench methods for hardware characterization, using impedance/network analyzers and high-power measurement equipment.
Troubleshooting: Debug prototype and production hardware at both the board and system level, driving root cause analysis.
Quality & Documentation: Maintain strong fluency with quality systems, ECOs, BOMs, travelers, and work instructions and grow into ECO sign-off authority as the company advances toward ISO 13485 certification.
Mentorship: Mentor 1–2 junior electrical engineers (non-managerial) and work hand-in-hand with the Director of Technology, absorbing EE development work from his plate.
Cable & Harness Design: Design cable and wire harnesses as needed to support system-level builds.
Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of R&D efforts. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience: 7–10+ years of professional electrical engineering experience.
Technical Skills: Expert-level proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB (non-negotiable); strong PCB/PCBA design skills; cable/wire harness design experience; analog and mixed-signal debugging; bench bring-up and root cause troubleshooting.
Quality & Regulatory: Hands-on experience with quality documentation (ECOs, BOMs, travelers, work instructions); familiarity with IEC 60601-1 is a plus given the company's move toward ISO 13485; comfort working in regulated environments (ISO 9001 preferred exposure).
Ownership & Communication: Demonstrated initiative and ownership; someone who drives projects forward rather than waiting to be told what to do; strong interpersonal and communication skills; a collaborative, patient style suited to mentoring and working closely with a tight-knit technical team.
Preferred: Exposure to ultrasound technology or medical device hardware; adjacent technical fields (e.g., laser/optics) with a strong physics foundation are also a great fit.
