Senior Electrical Engineer

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Billings, Montana, to lead electrical engineering delivery across a portfolio of projects. In this role, you will provide advanced electrical engineering services, offering technical leadership, oversight, and supervision within the electrical engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of electrical engineers and designers, overseeing their work on oil, gas, and chemical projects.
• Plan, organize, and direct engineering work, ensuring on-time completion, safety in design, and quality outcomes from conception to completion.
• Collaborate with project management, clients, and other disciplines to meet project objectives. May lead one or more projects while guiding other lead engineers within the program.
• Maintain relationships with project management and clients to ensure satisfaction with project quality and progress.
• Communicate effectively with the team and management, possessing strong leadership and problem-solving skills, and fostering a positive work environment.
• Deliver electrical engineering services that meet client and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
• Initiate, manage, and supervise electrical engineering project requirements.
• Perform electrical engineering services, including participating in meetings, preparing progress reports, and following required procedures.
• Ensure project scope is clear and changes comply with project change management processes.
• Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, such as writing requisitions and conducting technical bid evaluations.
• Act as the electrical engineering lead on specific projects if required.
• Resolve discrepancies between client and customer requirements proactively.
• Stay updated with the latest developments and innovations in electrical engineering.
• Assist and support junior personnel within the electrical engineering team if required.
• Communicate effectively with the electrical engineering team, other interfacing disciplines, and project stakeholders.
• Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and seek assistance when required.

Qualifications

Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:

• Excellent technical and practical engineering skills with the ability to deliver quality, accurate, and timely work.
• Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of electrical engineering and basic requirements of other engineering fields.
• Excellent knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications.
• Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and electrical engineering-specific software like ETAP and SPL.
• Experience in the development and design of MV and LV electrical distribution systems, equipment selection, protective relay selection, and power management system configuration.
• Perform and review power systems studies and protective device settings.
• Extensive technical and practical experience in electrical engineering in the same or similar industry, including experience in multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

• A recognized and relevant BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Preferred qualifications include relevant postgraduate qualifications in engineering, management, project management, or supervisory qualifications.
• 8+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Experience with software such as MS Office Suite and electrical engineering-specific software like ETAP and SPL.
• Professional Engineer (PE) status in the US is preferred.
