Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design efforts for complex building and facility projects across multiple market sectors. This role is responsible for developing electrical systems from early concept through construction documentation, performing engineering analysis, coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams, and helping ensure designs meet applicable codes, project requirements, and industry standards. The position will also support construction-phase activities and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with strong experience designing power distribution, lighting, low-voltage, grounding, bonding, and fire alarm systems for commercial, institutional, public-sector, or similarly complex facilities. This role is well suited for a technical leader who can work independently, manage multiple design assignments, collaborate effectively with architects and engineers, and contribute to a growing MEP practice with meaningful project variety and long-term professional growth.
Why Join Our Client?
Our client is an established multidisciplinary architecture and engineering firm serving public and private sector clients across a broad range of building, infrastructure, and community-focused markets. The company provides integrated planning, design, engineering, and consulting services and supports projects involving education, healthcare, federal, municipal, commercial, residential, industrial, and other facility types.
This opportunity offers the ability to work on diverse, technically engaging projects while being part of a growing engineering team with access to broader firm resources and cross-discipline collaboration. Experienced professionals will find a role that provides technical ownership, mentorship opportunities, exposure to varied project types, and the chance to help shape electrical design solutions within a supportive, team-oriented environment.

- Develop practical design solutions for power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, grounding, bonding, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
- Coordinate electrical design work with architects, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, contractors, and field personnel.
- Review and apply applicable building codes, electrical codes, standards, and regulatory requirements throughout the design process.
- Support design reviews, quality checks, and construction-phase services, including responding to technical questions as needed.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers by providing technical direction, design feedback, and project-level guidance.
- Manage multiple assignments while maintaining project schedules, documentation quality, and client expectations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 8+ years of experience designing electrical systems for building or facility projects.
- Active Professional Engineer license in good standing, or the ability to obtain licensure in the state where the role is based.
- Experience designing power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, grounding, bonding, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit for electrical design and documentation.
- Working knowledge of applicable building codes, electrical codes, industry standards, and electrical design practices.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively across internal teams, consultants, contractors, and field personnel.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and support projects through design and construction phases.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with healthcare, federal, military, education, justice, data center, industrial, multifamily, hospitality, or commercial facility projects.
- Experience using electrical analysis software such as SKM.
- Experience using lighting photometric software such as Visual.
- Prior experience mentoring junior technical staff within an MEP or consulting engineering environment.
