Job Title: Senior Electrical EngineerLocation: San Antonio, TXIndustry: equipment manufacturingWe are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to serve as the technical authority for electrical and electronic systems across a growing Aerial Work Platform (AWP) product portfolio. This individual will lead the definition, design, integration, and validation of machine‑level electrical architecture. Based in San Antonio, this role is instrumental in building and scaling North American engineering capabilities within a newly established engineering center. The position collaborates closely with global teams to support product development and organizational growth in North America.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design and development of electrical systems for boom and scissor lift platformsDefine electrical architecture, including power distribution, control modules, CAN networks, sensors, and human‑machine interfaces (HMI)Specify, select, and validate electrical components such as controllers, relays, switches, sensors, wiring harnesses, batteries, and protection devicesEnsure seamless integration with hydraulic, structural, powertrain, and software systemsEnsure compliance with ANSI, CSA, CE, ISO, and other relevant global standardsDevelop wiring schematics, harness drawings, system layouts, and documentationConduct DFMEA, safety analyses, and fault‑handling strategy developmentPerform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for system issuesPartner with software, vehicle integration, hydraulic, and powertrain teams to ensure system compatibilitySupport New Product Introduction (NPI) throughout concept, design, and validation phasesCollaborate with current product engineering to resolve field issuesWork with manufacturing teams to optimize harness routing, assembly, and serviceabilitySupport prototype builds, ensuring proper installation and system functionalityDevelop and execute validation plans, including functional, safety, EMC, and communication testingAnalyze test results and drive continuous improvementsSupport system calibration, configuration, and commissioning activitiesServe as a subject matter expert (SME) for electrical systemsMentor junior engineers on electrical architecture, diagnostics, and integration best practicesContribute to design standards, component strategies, and engineering processesLead technical discussions and design reviewsRequired QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related field7+ years of electrical engineering experience in AWP or off‑highway/mobile equipmentStrong experience in wiring harness design, schematics, and system integrationDeep understanding of low/high voltage systems, CANbus, sensors, controllers, and safety circuitsKnowledge of ANSI, CSA, CE, ISO, and other applicable standardsProven problem‑solving and analytical skillsExperience working in cross‑functional, global engineering environmentsHands‑on experience with prototype builds, commissioning, and system validationUnderstanding of DFM/DFA and manufacturing processesPreferred QualificationsExperience with Siemens NX and TeamcenterProfessional Engineer (PE) certificationExperience developing electrical systems for complex mobile machineryCore CompetenciesStrong engineering judgment and decision‑makingSystem‑level thinking and troubleshooting expertiseEffective cross‑functional communicationLeadership in design reviews and technical discussionsContinuous improvement mindsetWork EnvironmentCombination of office, lab, and manufacturing environments.
