You will manage the electrical engineering team, collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and consultants, and ensure the successful delivery of projects from conceptual design through construction completion. You will be responsible for overseeing the technical accuracy, budget, schedule, and overall quality of the electrical aspects of the project. Primary Job Responsibilities: - Lead and manage the design and execution of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low voltage, and controls systems, ensuring seamless integration with overall building design.
- Oversee the preparation and review of detailed electrical drawings, calculations, and specifications, ensuring compliance with building codes, energy standards, and client requirements.
- Manage electrical design for large, complex projects, ensuring systems are efficient, cost-effective, and meet sustainability and performance goals.
- Perform advanced electrical load calculations, arc flash analysis, coordination studies, voltage drop and short-circuit analysis, lighting design.
- Comprehensive knowledge of national electrical code (NFPA 70) and references standards.
- Proficient at writing technical specifications.
- Direct the development of design concepts, feasibility studies, cost estimates, and system evaluations.
- Lead the coordination of electrical systems with other building systems (mechanical, plumbing, structural) to resolve design conflicts and ensure integration.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior electrical engineers and designers, including guidance on complex design issues and solutions.
- Collaborate with senior project managers to ensure electrical design projects stay on schedule and within budget, identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Interface with clients and consultants to present electrical design proposals, respond to inquiries, and manage client expectations.
- Lead project meetings, including design coordination, technical reviews, and status updates, with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, innovations in electrical systems, sustainable design practices, and regulatory changes.
- Ensure compliance with sustainability initiatives such as LEED, WELL, or other green building certifications and energy efficiency requirements.
- Oversee the commissioning process for electrical systems, ensuring installation and operation meet design intent, including troubleshooting as needed.
- Provide support during the construction phase, reviewing contractor submittals, responding to RFIs (Requests for Information), and addressing field issues.
- Manage and develop project budgets, schedules, and documentation, ensuring all milestones are met and projects are successfully completed.
- Contribute to business development efforts, including preparing proposals, conducting client presentations, and fostering client relationships.
The Successful Candidate Will Have: - Proven ability to manage and execute complex electrical system designs from concept through construction completion.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring a team of engineers and designers.
- Deep understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low voltage, controls, energy modeling, and advanced electrical engineering principles.
- Expertise in electrical design and analysis software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Easy Power or SKM Power Tools, Agi32 or equivalent).
- A strong record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to required standards.
- In-depth knowledge of building codes, electrical standards, energy efficiency, and sustainability regulations (NEC, IEEE, IESNA, LEED and referenced standards).
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and working directly with clients, architects, and contractors.
