Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-driven Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to support the installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of industrial electrical, instrumentation, and control systems throughout our production facility. This role plays a vital part in maintaining safe operations, reliable automation, accurate process monitoring, and overall operational efficiency within a fast-paced startup and manufacturing environment.

This position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, while senior-level technicians may also provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely install, remove, repair, test, and commission electrical and instrumentation systems and components
  • Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial instrumentation including transmitters, sensors, analyzers, flow meters, transducers, and weigh scales
  • Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, instrumentation, and control system issues through advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Perform loop checks, I/O verification, signal testing, and system diagnostics during commissioning, startup, and maintenance activities
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on substations, power distribution systems, switchgear, MCCs, motors, motor controls, and AC/DC drives
  • Install, configure, commission, troubleshoot, and replace Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • Maintain and troubleshoot industrial rectifier systems, including DC power distribution, cooling systems, controls, interlocks, and protective devices
  • Identify and resolve rectifier-related issues such as abnormal voltage/current conditions, grounding faults, cooling failures, and control system malfunctions
  • Support startup, shutdown, commissioning, and operational troubleshooting of rectifier systems
  • Assist with configuration and limited programming support for PLC, HMI, SCADA, and DCS platforms
  • Maintain accurate documentation including calibration records, loop diagrams, wiring schematics, rectifier settings, and as-built drawings
  • Adhere to all SOPs, lockout/tagout procedures, and electrical safety standards
  • Participate in safety initiatives, environmental programs, preventive maintenance activities, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior electrical and instrumentation personnel as needed
  • Support a 24/7/365 operational environment, including shift work as required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One of the following experience/education combinations:
    • 8+ years of industrial electrical or fixed plant electrician experience; OR
    • Completion of a certified Electronics, Electrical, or Instrumentation program (typically 4 years) with 4+ years of relevant industrial experience; OR
    • Associate degree or trade certification with 6+ years of relevant industrial electrical and/or instrumentation experience
  • Strong ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills involving electrical, instrumentation, and process control systems
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial power distribution systems, motor controls, VFDs, instrumentation, and automation systems
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision and determining appropriate solutions for non-routine assignments
  • Ability to mentor and support less experienced technicians
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, rectifiers, and AC/DC control systems
  • Experience working with 480V motor control systems, switchgear, and controls

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with medium-voltage electrical equipment
  • Experience in chemical processing, metallurgical processing, or other heavy industrial manufacturing environments
