Overview

The Senior Project Manager (Pre-Construction) leads the development of turnkey electrical infrastructure solutions, including microgrids, EV charging, switchgear, BESS, solar PV, generators, and fuel cells.

This role partners with sales and engineering teams to design cost-effective, code-compliant solutions that meet client operational and financial goals. The ideal candidate has strong experience in design-build electrical construction, equipment selection, utility coordination, and industrial/commercial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptual Engineering: Aid applications engineering on developing and producing conceptual drawings for electrical power generation systems.
  • Product Selection: Evaluate, specify, and recommend appropriate electrical and infrastructure components to meet project objectives.
  • Project Management: Oversee project development from concept through proposal submission, ensuring deliverables align with client and company expectations.
  • Proposal Standardization: Maintain standardized proposal templates, pricing models, and document management protocols for consistent, high-quality submissions.
  • Document Control: Coordinate and manage client provided documentation throughout various project phases, including schematic designs, construction documents, schedules and record drawings.
  • Customer Interaction: Communicate proactively and professionally with internal and external stakeholders, maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Sales Support: Provide estimating and technical sales support for our microgrid solution offerings, energy consulting, and development planning.
  • Technical Deliverable Generation: Creation of technical deliverables, including single lines, layouts, load calculations, panel, and feeder schedules.
  • Construction Knowledge: Demonstrate a strong understanding of electrical construction methods, sequencing, and coordination with other trades.
  • Risk Management: Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies in collaboration with operations, legal, and finance teams.
  • Proposal Development: Support the creation and review of proposals, cost estimates, and bid documents; lead bid reviews and pricing exercises.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively within a team environment. Manage external stakeholders, including vendors and subcontractors. Coordinate with the internal application engineering team.
  • Site Evaluations: Conduct on-site evaluations of facilities and equipment as per the customer's scope of work.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to NEC, OSHA, ADA, site specific AHJ ordinances and other relevant codes and guidelines.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, with job duties subject to modification.

Qualifications

Basic Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including (MS Projects or SmartSheets) for scheduling purposes, Bluebeam, and a strong understanding of NEC, NFPA-70E, SAE, and IEEE/ANSI standards.
  • At least 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, electrical estimating, labor cost and pricing, and electrical service work. EV infrastructure experience is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience providing design support or serving in a design lead role within a design-build or consulting firm. Proven expertise in electrical system layouts, with a focus on commercial and industrial environments. Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and delivering solutions that meet both technical standards and client expectations is highly desirable. Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and best practices (e.g., NEC, NFPA, IEEE) is considered a strong asset.
  • Willingness to travel 25% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE licensure or a passing grade in the FE exam.
  • Familiar with Salesforce or equivalent CRM
