Great opportunity for Civil or Structural Engineers interested in working in the U.S. on a TN Visa. Only citizens of Canada and Mexico are eligible for the TN Visa program.

Reporting to the Director of Design & Engineering, the Senior Engineer, PE provides advanced technical leadership and direct oversight of structural design work. The position includes supervision of one engineer and plays a key role in ensuring our products meet all structural, safety, and quality standards. As a hands-on professional in this role, you will be expected to thrive on solving complex problems and driving design quality. This position requires active collaboration with our pre-construction and operations teams, as well as representing the firm in communications with our clients and partners.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in structural engineering, specifically with architectural metals (aluminum and steel), and a deep understanding of wind, snow, and seismic load analysis. While a structural focus is preferred, licensed engineers with a Civil background and relevant experience will be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Structural Analysis: Perform and oversee complex structural calculations for components and assemblies, including connections, anchoring, and main structural members, considering wind, snow, seismic, and dead loads.
  • Technical Oversight: Review, approve, and stamp calculations and shop drawings for project submittals, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with all relevant building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, etc.).
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage the in-house engineering team. Set department goals and manage workflow and project scheduling.
  • Code Compliance: Maintain expert-level knowledge of national and regional building codes and standards applicable to sun control products and architectural elements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the design, project management, fabrication and sales teams to ensure engineering solutions are efficient, manufacturable, and align with project scope and budget.
  • Problem-Solving: Act as the primary technical resource for troubleshooting complex design, fabrication, or field installation challenges.
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement within the engineering department by standardizing calculations, optimizing workflows, and implementing best practices.
  • R&D Support: Provide engineering expertise for the development of new products and the refinement of existing product lines.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • License: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in good standing.
  • Must be licensed in Texas or have the ability to gain reciprocity within 90 days.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain PE licenses in other states as needed.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 4 years of progressive engineering experience.
    • Minimum of 2 years in a management or team leadership role.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Knowledge and experience with 2D/3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferably, AutoCAD and Revit).
    • Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., MathCAD or similar).
    • Deep familiarity with building codes and standards (e.g., IBC, ASCE 7, Aluminum Design Manual).
    • Proven expertise in structural analysis and design, particularly with aluminum and all types of building structures.
  • Leadership Skills:
    • Professional representation of the firm is essential, requiring excellent organizational skills and the capacity for clear, client-facing communication. Must be able to articulate complex technical solutions effectively to both clients and internal teams.
    • Strong sense of urgency and self-discipline to meet client deadlines
    • Positive Attitude that aligns with with our Core Values:
      • Do What You Say, Improve & Learn Today, Keep Your Cool, Willing to Help and Go the Extra Mile.
