    Description

Senior Engineer – High Voltage Power Systems
    Location: Charlotte, NC

TalentBridge is partnered with a leading manufacturer to identify a Senior Engineer to join a growing High Voltage Engineering team in the Charlotte, NC area. This individual will support the design, development, and delivery of high-voltage cable and power systems used in large-scale electrical infrastructure applications.

This is a hands-on engineering role with involvement throughout the complete project lifecycle, from initial system design and technical specifications through manufacturing, installation, testing, commissioning, and field support. The Senior Engineer will work closely with customers, project managers, manufacturing teams, field personnel, contractors, and other engineers to ensure systems are designed and delivered to meet technical and performance requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical power systems, power delivery, transmission, substations, medium/high-voltage systems, or related electrical infrastructure. Direct experience with high-voltage cable systems is highly desirable but not required for an engineer with strong power systems knowledge and relevant field experience.

    Responsibilities
    • Design and specify high-voltage cable and power systems based on customer, application, and project requirements.
    • Perform electrical engineering calculations and evaluate system designs, components, materials, and installation requirements.
    • Develop technical specifications and provide engineering direction throughout the design and execution of projects.
    • Support projects from initial design through manufacturing, testing, installation, commissioning, and final implementation.
    • Work closely with manufacturing, project management, field technicians, contractors, suppliers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure technical requirements are met.
    • Provide engineering support during field installations and commissioning activities, including troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues.
    • Evaluate field conditions and make sound engineering decisions when issues arise during installation or project execution.
    • Support testing and performance evaluations to ensure systems meet design specifications, applicable codes, and industry standards.
    • Interface directly with customers to understand technical requirements, answer engineering questions, and resolve issues throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Analyze system performance and field results to identify opportunities for improvements in system design, manufacturing, and installation methods.
    • Collaborate with other engineers and technical resources to solve complex electrical and system-level problems.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline with significant electrical/power systems experience.
    • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
    • Experience with power transmission, distribution, substations, medium/high-voltage systems, utility infrastructure, power delivery, or related electrical systems.
    • Experience performing electrical engineering calculations and developing technical specifications.
    • Previous field experience supporting installation, commissioning, startup, testing, or troubleshooting of electrical systems or equipment.
    • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems and make timely, sound engineering decisions in field environments.
    • Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and engineering practices.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with customers, contractors, technicians, project managers, and engineering teams.
    • Ability to travel approximately 30% based on project and field requirements.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience with underground electrical transmission systems.
    • High-voltage or medium-voltage cable system experience.
    • High-voltage power system design or applications engineering experience.
    • Experience with cable installation, testing, and commissioning.
    • Utility, transmission, substation, or power infrastructure experience.
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
    • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to take on a highly visible technical role supporting complex high-voltage systems from initial engineering through successful field implementation. The position offers a strong combination of design engineering, technical problem-solving, field involvement, and customer interaction within a growing area of the power infrastructure market.
