Title: Senior Engineer I
Location: Pomona, CA (Hybrid, Wed & Th onsite)
Duration: 18 months

Job Duties

The role involves overseeing workers, facilitating meetings, and ensuring that products and services meet business requirements. You will serve as the single point of contact for the business, understanding requirements and business usage to provide the product domain expertise needed to successfully run, use, and evolve each product.

Education/Experience

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable profession, business, or technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Possesses ten or more years of experience.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities/Workload

• Develop preliminary scope of work.
• Schedule and conduct pre-engineering job walk meetings with stakeholders (Construction, Maintenance, Operations, IT, Telecomm, Field Engineering, Test, etc.).
• Create, approve, and publish pre-engineering job walk meeting minutes and design specification documents.
• Order major equipment in a timely manner to meet material want dates.
• Manage various in-house design projects by providing technical engineering and design support to the design team, as well as providing training and directions.
• Manage prime engineering contractor and work with the contractor to ensure consistency and high quality of design, delivery milestone dates, and cost.
• Review, evaluate, and approve engineering contractor design cost proposals on direct award and/or competitive bidding projects.
• Participate in the mentoring and training of new engineers to help develop the technical expertise of the Substation Projects group.
• Review and approve purchase order requests, change orders, and service sheets through the Ariba system.
• Provide technical support to field personnel and other internal/external stakeholders and project-related team members as required.
• Provide engineering support for ongoing operational needs to support service reliability and meet other related compliance requirements, such as emergent projects and/or stakeholders' requests and emergencies, as well as North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) compliance and reporting.
• Create and maintain a safety-conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow client’s safety protocols and safe work practices.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Design Manager, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Required Skills/Attributes

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor Degree in a Scientific/Technical/Math field.
• Two or more years of experience in substation engineering and design.
• General knowledge and experience with guides, standards, codes, and methods to perform complex assignments.
• Highly organized, experience conducting field meetings discussing scope of work, and excellent note-taking skills.
• AutoCAD design experience in developing and updating AutoCAD drawings.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Desired Skills/Attributes

• Five or more years of engineering experience.
• General knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform complex assignments for a specific discipline, various installations, or services.
• Professional Engineer License (P.E.) in the State of California.
• Power Utility Substation 4KV thru 500KV experience.
