Senior Engineer- Mechanical

ResponsibilitiesPlan and conduct complex engineering assignments requiring independent judgmentSupervise, coordinate, and review work of Engineers, Designers, and CAD OperatorsDevelop technical reports, studies, and system analysesEvaluate substitute equipment and review system adjustments after installationRepresent the firm in meetings and coordinate across all tradesPerform engineering designs, calculations, and evaluations with advanced techniquesMentor junior engineers and support project technical leadershipQualifications and ExperienceBachelor's degree in mechanical or related engineering discipline requiredProfessional Engineer (PE) license preferred; Engineer-in-Training (EIT) accepted with intent to obtain PEEight or more years of progressively responsible engineering experience in building systems designDemonstrated ability to perform complex engineering calculations, system analyses, and advanced technical evaluationsExperience reviewing system performance, evaluating alternative equipment, and resolving field discrepanciesProven ability to mentor junior engineers, review design work, and provide quality control oversightStrong coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams including architects, designers, CAD staff, and clientsAbility to represent the firm in client meetings, construction discussions, and design reviewsProficiency with relevant engineering software, codes, and industry standardsLocationRochester or Buffalo, NY (Hybrid)TravelUp to 15%The expected base salary range for this role is $95,000 - $135,000 USD per year, hourly, non-exempt.This role is also eligible for a comprehensiveU.S. basedbenefits package, including:Medical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and company holidaysWellness programs and employee assistance resourcesFor more information, visit our full benefits overview here .About UsFounded in 1975, Salas O'Brien is an employee-owned engineering and professional services firm focused on achieving impact for our clients, our team, and the world.
