Role Overview
Asplundh Engineering Services is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing Power Systems Engineering team in Boonton, New Jersey. This role exists to provide technical leadership, oversee complex engineering projects, and support modernization of critical electrical infrastructure. The Senior Engineer will lead project teams, mentor junior staff, interface directly with clients, and deliver high‑quality engineering solutions across utility, industrial, commercial, and institutional applications. This position plays a key role in driving projects from concept through design, construction, and commissioning.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Serve as the senior engineer and project manager on power system and substation engineering projects.
- Conduct site inspections and field investigations to verify existing physical, electrical, and wiring conditions.
- Interface directly with clients to understand requirements, develop solutions, maintain strong relationships, and lead project execution, schedule management, and budget performance.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid‑level engineers.
- Prepare engineering reports, specifications, design criteria, and procurement packages.
- Support equipment specification, material procurement, vendor coordination, and construction/commissioning activities.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Approximately 10–15 years of relevant power systems engineering experience.
- Experience leading engineering projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with utility, industrial, or large commercial power systems.
- Experience performing field investigations, condition assessments, and commissioning support.
- Familiarity with IEEE, NFPA, ANSI, NESC, and NEC requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
Work Environment & Preferences
- Work Model: Hybrid
- Preferred Schedule: Full-time
- Travel Requirements: Approximately 5–10%
- Physical Requirements: Ability to conduct field investigations and site visits as needed.
