    Description

    Your Opportunity

At Schwab, you're empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us "challenge the status quo" and transform the finance industry together. We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

Schwab Technology Services enables the future of how clients manage their money by providing innovative and reliable technology products and services as part of our ongoing commitment to democratize access to investing and financial planning.

In this Senior Manager role on a front-office technology team, you'll lead teams that design, build, and continuously improve software that supports critical business and product capabilities. You'll partner closely with product and business leaders to align priorities, shape strategy, and deliver outcomes through a modern Agile and DevOps approach. If you thrive in a collaborative, client-focused environment and enjoy building high-performing teams that ship quality software, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while growing your leadership journey at Schwab.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead and develop software engineering managers and teams by setting clear direction, fostering inclusion, and enabling strong delivery practices across the software development lifecycle.
    • Partner with business and product stakeholders to define priorities, translate needs into outcomes, and communicate progress, risks, and tradeoffs with transparency.
    • Drive Agile and DevOps execution, improving flow from ideation to production through effective planning, engineering standards, automation, and continuous improvement.
    • Provide hands-on technical leadership for application components of moderate complexity, including solution design, architecture input, and engineering decision-making.
    • Establish and uphold quality, reliability, and operational excellence expectations aligned to Schwab standards (testing, security, performance, observability, and incident learnings).
    • Build a client-driven technology culture that values clarity, accountability, and shared success across cross-functional teams.

    What you have

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in technology, engineering, or a related field.
    • 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering, technology delivery, or related experience.
    • 5+ years of experience building software with C#/.NET, including API development and modern service patterns.
    • Proficiency with SQL Server and building/consuming services using REST, JSON, and modern web technologies (for example, HTML/CSS).
    • Experience delivering solutions in cloud environments (for example, GCP or AWS).
    • Demonstrated ability to partner with business stakeholders to translate needs into technical solutions and measurable outcomes.
    • Working knowledge of Agile delivery practices and experience operating within cross-functional Agile teams.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • People leadership experience managing and mentoring mid-to-large software development teams.
    • Experience supporting portfolio-focused teams or partnering with investment/portfolio stakeholders to deliver technology capabilities.
    • Strength in building healthy engineering culture through coaching, clear expectations, and talent development.
    • Ability to make data-informed decisions using delivery metrics, operational signals, and customer feedback.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders.
    • Experience improving engineering practices (CI/CD, testing strategy, quality gates, observability, and production readiness).

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
