Senior Engineering Technician
Job Description
The Senior Engineering Technician performs advanced technical and field operations in support of foundation testing programs. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, independent judgment, and the ability to lead field activities, troubleshoot complex systems, and ensure quality execution of all testing services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field operations including setup, operation, maintenance, and repair of testing equipment and instrumentation systems.
- Lead field testing activities including, but not limited to, STATNAMIC, bi-directional load testing, dynamic and static load testing, and non-destructive testing methods.
- Oversee and perform strain gage installation, instrumentation cabling, and assembly of data acquisition systems.
- Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic system issues in both shop and field environments.
- Travel to project sites (over 60%), including occasional international assignments.
- Troubleshoot and solve technical challenges in dynamic field environments.
- Partner directly with engineers and project teams to deliver accurate, high-quality results.
- Ensure proper documentation, data integrity, and timely reporting of field results.
- Mentor and support junior technicians, helping build a strong, capable team.
- Play a key role in maintaining and improving equipment, processes, and overall field efficiency.
- Maintain and improve shop organization, equipment readiness, and inventory control.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information to engineers, clients, and team members.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation systems.
- Proven ability to work independently, lead field crews, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Physical capability to lift 75–100 lbs and perform fieldwork in varying site conditions.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel and work extended or non-standard hours, including night shifts.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with good driving record
