This position reports to the Director of Environmental Health and Safety at Boston University (BU). Primarily located on the BU Medical Campus (BUMED) with flexibility to support assignments across Boston Medical Center (BMC) and the BU Charles River Campus (CRC) as needed.Key ResponsibilitiesExecute safety program initiatives by conducting inspections, maintaining related records, and implementing injury and illness prevention programs designed to protect campus employees and visitors.Develop and deliver training programs on a variety of health and safety topics while providing campus-wide occupational safety education to support organizational safety goals.Support BMC environment of care rounds and contribute to the BMC Safety Committee.Oversee and implement multiple OSHA and compliance programs including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, hazard communication, machine shop safety, bloodborne pathogen protocols, and powered industrial truck operation.Provide essential support to construction and fire safety programs at both BUMC and BMC, ensuring that safety standards are maintained across all campus.QualificationsCandidates must hold a Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in a related field and have a minimum of three years of relevant environmental health and safety experience.Must be able to respond to emergencies on campus during off-hours, including weekends and holidays, as a member of the rotating on-call emergency response team.Must obtain or already possess 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification.Must complete a pre-placement physical questionnaire and undergo on-site physical and medical surveillance upon hire.Preferred QualificationsIdeal candidates will hold one or more professional certifications including Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Health and Safety Professional (CHSP).#J-18808-Ljbffr
