Job Description and Duties

Are you ready to step up into a leadership position? Does supervising a dynamic team working on restoration projects around the Salton Sea excite you? Do you enjoy a face-paced, very dynamic and interesting position that will challenge your current skills and require you to learn more?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you might be right for the the Salton Sea Program Supervisor position. We are looking for a positive leader who believes in the CDFW motto and enjoys working with both nature and people. Liking the desert would be an added bonus.

Under the general direction of the Salton Sea Program Manager (C.E.A.), the incumbent supervises and directs the work of professional scientific staff and technicians directly responsible for the technical and professional development of staff, performance evaluation, program budgeting, and work force planning for the program.

Working Conditions

Ability to use a computer keyboard for several hours each day; complete office tasks that require sitting, standing, and walking to other locations; attend meetings and conference calls; visit project sites requiring driving a vehicle up to three or more hours each way and sometimes including early mornings and late nights; occasional overnight travel up to 20% to reach some meeting or field locations; hiking over uneven and possibly steep or wet terrain at project sites for reconnaissance and biological monitoring; including operation or passenger on a boat; occasional travel of two or more days per week. This position offers the possibility of an office-centered hybrid telework agreement based on the Department's current Telework Policy. The position will require, at times, the incumbent to wear a uniform identifying the employee as CDFW staff.

  • Knowledge of the desert especially within Riverside and Imperial County.
  • Ability to speak Spanish language, even at a basic level.
