About the Senior Estimator Role

United Trades of America is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our dynamic pre-construction team. As a Senior Estimator, you'll lead and support competitive bid efforts and negotiated work across commercial, institutional, higher education, and infrastructure markets. You'll collaborate directly with clients, architects, engineers, and internal stakeholders to ensure cost-effective, accurate, and strategic estimates.

Responsibilities

  • Lead pre-construction efforts on complex projects from $10M to $200M+
  • Prepare detailed estimates across all divisions (CSI format), from conceptual to hard bids
  • Analyze subcontractor and supplier proposals, conduct scope reviews, and level bids
  • Build and maintain historical cost databases and unit pricing systems
  • Participate in value engineering, risk assessments, and constructability reviews
  • Mentor junior estimators and collaborate cross-functionally with business development, operations, and VDC teams
  • Represent W.E. O'Neil at client meetings, interviews, and bid presentations

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of commercial construction estimating experience (GC or CM)
  • Deep knowledge of construction means, methods, building systems, and materials
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., WinEst, Assemble, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam)
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred
