Job Description
As a Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role in the preconstruction process, leading estimating efforts on a variety of commercial construction projects ranging from $1M to $20M+. Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare detailed conceptual, schematic, design development, and final estimates.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documentation to determine project costs and risks.
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Develop and maintain detailed quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns.
- Collaborate with project management and field operations teams to ensure seamless project transitions.
- Lead bid preparation efforts, including scope reviews, clarifications, and proposal development.
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives for clients.
- Assist with budgeting, feasibility studies, and preconstruction planning activities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.
- Monitor market trends, labor costs, and material pricing to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Senior Estimator will possess:
- 5+ years of estimating experience within commercial construction.
- Experience estimating projects within sectors such as commercial, industrial, retail, multifamily, hospitality, education, healthcare, or mixed-use construction.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building systems.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Experience performing quantity take-offs and developing detailed project budgets.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple pursuits and deadlines simultaneously.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
