Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of accurate, detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects from conceptual through final design
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and scopes of work to develop comprehensive estimates
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and vendor bids
- Collaborate closely with preconstruction, project management, and business development teams
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies
- Mentor and support junior estimating staff
- Maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners
- Participate in project handoff meetings and support the transition from preconstruction to construction
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, Sage, or similar)
- Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and cost drivers
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
