An industry-leading national heavy civil contractor is seeking a Senior Estimator to join its established regional team in Alexandria, Virginia.

This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced heavy civil estimator who wants to work on complex, technically challenging infrastructure projects while helping shape the next generation of mega-projects across the Mid-Atlantic.

The Projects You'll Be Involved In

This role goes far beyond traditional highway estimating. You'll support bids and delivery on some of the most complex infrastructure projects in the region, including:

• Major underground tunneling & environmental infrastructure
• Marine construction & hyperbaric repair works
• Passenger rail bridges & capacity expansion programmes
• Heavy highway widening & complex interchanges
• Dams, marine terminals & large concrete structures

The estimating team is actively pursuing multi-billion-dollar design-build and alternative delivery projects across Virginia and DC.
What You'll Do

Strategic Estimating

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for bridges, tunnels, marine and heavy concrete projects
• Lead quantity take-offs, labor & equipment pricing, and subcontractor analysis
• Apply field knowledge to ensure realistic, buildable bids

Engineering & Planning

• Develop temporary works concepts (shoring, cofferdams, falsework)
• Evaluate make-vs-buy decisions and self-perform opportunities
• Build schedules and production rates to support pricing strategy

Collaboration & Leadership

• Work closely with design, engineering, and construction teams
• Support bid closeouts, proposal submissions, and site visits
• Contribute technical insight to design-build solutions

What You Bring

• 5+ years' estimating experience (or combined field + estimating) in heavy civil construction
• Strong background in bridges, marine works, heavy concrete, or underground construction
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Construction Management
• Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, Hard Dollar, Bluebeam, or similar platforms
• Prior Field Engineer experience highly valued
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and collaborative mindset
