Position Summary

The Sr.Estimatorisresponsibleforprovidingaccuratetimelyandcomprehensivebidsforprivateandpublic-sectorimprovementprojects.Specificallytherolewillberesponsibleforidentifyingbidopportunitiespreparingcompetitivebiddocumentsanddevelopingwinningproposals.InadditiontheSr.Estimatorwillcontributetothesuccessandprofitabilityofprojectsbyprovidingongoingassistanceduringtheconstructionphaseincludingestimateinterpretationproblemresolutionactiveinvolvementinthechangeorderprocessandassistanceinoverallaccountmanagement.BecognitiveofyourinfluenceasapositiverolemodeltotheDepartmentslessexperiencedstaffandmentorwhenpossible.

Essential Functions

Business Development

Proactivelyidentifynewbusinessleadsandorrepeatbusinessintheprivatemarket.TaketheleadasassignedbusinessdevelopmentforselectedcustomersbuildingrelationshipswhichrepresentGBIwellandpositionsthecompanypositivelyforfuturework.Proactivelywatchgovernmentpublicationsforfuturedevelopmentsandprojects.EvenwhenopportunitiesareyearsawayfromstartingpositionGBIforfuturesuccess.

Estimating

GoNoGoanalysisforpotentialbidsPerformandreceivepeerreviewspriortofinalreview.Responsibletoschedulepeerreviewsonyourownestimatesandprovidepeerreviewstootherestimators.Thoroughlyevaluatebiddocumentsplansspecificationssoilsreportandrelateddocumentsdeterminingscopeandbreadthofworktobebothself-performedandsubcontracted.Evaluatechangesinbiddocumentsasnecessarywithrespecttotheimplicationstoscopecostandtheriskprofileofthepursuit.Coordinateoverseeandevaluatethequantitytake-offforpursuitshighlightingimportantdetailssuchasaccessphasingproductionconstraintsmagnitudesofscopeetc.Attendpre-bidmeetingsandsitevisitstoevaluateprojectconstraintsandtheirimplicationstothedevelopmentofaprofitablecostestimateforthepursuit.Leadprojectvisitanddocumentexistinggroundconditionsandpotentialrisksoftheproject.Identifyandcontacttherequiredsubcontractorssuppliersandserviceprovidersandrequestscopeclarificationsandquotesensuringsufficientminimumoftwoquotesforeachscopecoveragewhilemitigatingallknownandpotentialscopegaps.Utilizehistoricalcostandproductiondatatodeveloptimelyandaccurateestimates.Identifyanalyzecategorizeprioritizeevaluatecommunicateandmitigatetherisksassociatedwiththepursuit.Tabulatetheestimatedcostanddurationforeachactivitybasedontherequirementsforlaborequipmentmaterialsandsubcontractorsofeachactivityensuringthepursuitcanbecarriedoutprofitably.Completetheestimateproduceascheduleandotherexecutivelevelsummarydocumentsallowingenoughtimepriortosubmissionofthebidforadetailedpeermanagementreviewofthepursuit.Ensureallassociatedactionitemshavebeenaddressedpriortofinalizingandsubmittingthebid.Responsibleforestimatortrainingrotationprocessandformentoringtrainees.Utilizeprojectandcraftexperiencetodevelopbetterestimates.Communicateeffectivelywithprojectteamspreandpostaward.AssistDesign-BuildProjectManagerinoverseeingdesignconstructionandQAQCprograms.

Construction

DuringprojectprogressioncommunicatewiththeProjectTeamtobeawareofprojectstatus.EnsureclaimplanisbeingfollowedandWorkPlansandJHAsarebeingutilizedeffectively.Regularlyvisitprojectsitesincludingmonthlysitesafetyvisits.WhenrequiredprovideProjectTeamwithreviewandguidanceofconstructionclaimprocessandsettleclaimsinthebestinterestofthecompany.ReviewProjectTeamsmanagementofcontractualchangeorderprocessincludinginitialpricingofextrawork.ConstantlycommunicatewiththeRegionalManageraboutprojectstatusandriskalerts.OtherFunctions
