Senior Estimator

We are seeking a Senior Estimator with deep experience in earthwork and shoring to lead preconstruction efforts and drive accurate, competitive bids on complex projects. This individual will play a key role in project pursuit strategy, cost analysis, and risk evaluation, working closely with operations and executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead estimating efforts for earthwork and shoring projects, including mass excavation, grading, and support of excavation systems
• Analyze drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports to develop detailed and accurate cost estimates
• Perform quantity takeoffs, pricing, and subcontractor/vendor solicitation
• Develop conceptual and hard bid estimates, budgets, and cost models
• Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options during preconstruction
• Collaborate with Project Managers and field teams to ensure alignment between estimate and execution
• Prepare bid packages, proposals, and presentations for clients and stakeholders
• Maintain and update cost databases, historical data, and unit pricing
• Support contract negotiations and post-bid buyout processes
• Mentor junior estimators and contribute to team development

Qualifications:

• 8 12+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction, with a focus on earthwork and shoring
• Strong knowledge of excavation, grading, dewatering, and shoring systems (e.g., sheet piling, soldier piles and lagging, tiebacks, secant/slurry walls)
• Ability to interpret civil, structural, and geotechnical drawings and specifications
• Proven track record of successfully bidding and winning complex projects
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid, AGTEK, Bluebeam, or similar)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with deep excavation and urban shoring projects
• Background working for a specialty contractor or heavy civil firm
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
• Strong subcontractor/vendor network within the local market
