Job Description

Senior Estimator – Heavy Civil Construction

Location: Tulsa, OK
Job Type: Full-Time | In Office
Compensation: $125,000 - $150,000 + Performance Bonus

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join a well-established heavy civil construction company that has been building critical infrastructure across Oklahoma for more than 50 years. Originally founded as a paving contractor, the company has grown into a full-service heavy civil contractor providing earthwork, underground utilities, concrete, asphalt, trucking, and total site solutions for commercial and infrastructure projects. Their culture is built around safety, quality, integrity, accountability, and investing in their people.

This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with a strong background in dirtwork, underground utilities, concrete, and site development who enjoys working on complex projects. The organization performs much of its work as a subcontractor, with a strong focus on private-sector projects, including data centers and other large commercial developments.

You'll be joining a collaborative preconstruction team led by an experienced Preconstruction Manager who provides strong organizational support, allowing estimators to focus on producing accurate, competitive bids while continuing to grow professionally.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare complete and accurate cost estimates for heavy civil and site development projects.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, utilities, concrete, grading, paving, and related scopes.
  • Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents.
  • Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Develop competitive bid proposals while identifying value engineering opportunities.
  • Analyze project risks, production rates, labor costs, equipment requirements, and material pricing.
  • Collaborate closely with project management, operations, and field teams during preconstruction.
  • Participate in bid reviews, scope clarifications, and turnover meetings after award.
  • Maintain current pricing databases and estimating best practices.
  • Support multiple bids while consistently meeting deadlines.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Strong estimating background in dirtwork, excavation, grading, underground utilities, concrete, and site development.
  • Experience estimating private commercial or industrial sitework projects.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and civil plans.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with HeavyBid and/or HeavyJob is highly preferred.
  • Field experience in heavy civil construction is a plus.
  • Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related degree preferred, but equivalent industry experience will also be considered.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $125,000 - $150,000 base salary
  • Performance bonus opportunity (typically 15-20%)
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid Time Off
  • 401(k) with 4% company match
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Long-term career growth with a well-established organization backed by new ownership and continued investment in its people and operations.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to become part of a company that has built its reputation on delivering complete site solutions while maintaining a people-first culture. You'll work alongside experienced professionals on high-profile heavy civil projects, receive strong support from leadership, and have the resources needed to produce quality work without operating on an island. The organization continues to invest in its employees, technology, and long-term growth while remaining committed to safety, quality, and dependable project delivery.
