Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Source heavy fabrication Components and assemblies, precision machine components, and sheet metal parts.
  • Develop and manage suppliers for structural fabrication, heavy machining, industrial material handling & logistics equipment, and steel industry packaging systems.
  • Identify cost-effective sourcing strategies aligned with project timelines.
  • Conduct supplier capability assessment, audits, and qualification.

Profile:

Cost Estimation& Techno-Commercial Evaluation:

  • Prepare detailed cost estimation based on drawings, BOM, and specifications.
  • Estimate manufacturing cost including raw materials, machining operations,

fabrication & welding processes, surface treatment, assembly, and logistics.

  • Perform should-cost analysis and benchmarking.
  • Analyze RFQs and prepare competitive quotations.
  • Support project costing activities.

Vendor Development & Management:

  • Develop fabrication and machining vendors for heavy engineering equipment.
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and commercial terms.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Establish long-term supplier partnerships.

Technical Coordination

  • Work closely with Design Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, and Project teams.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, fabrication tolerances, and machining requirements.
  • Resolve technical and commercial issues with vendors.

Industry Application

  • In-plant logistics and material handling systems.
  • Steel coil/plate handling equipment.
  • Industrial packaging equipment for steel products.

Cost Optimization & Process Improvement

  • Implement value engineering and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Improve sourcing efficiency and supplier performance.
  • Monitor market trends for steel, fabrication, and machining costs.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma / BE / B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Strong experience in heavy fabrication and machining sourcing.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and fabrication layouts.

Experience

  • 6- 8 years in sourcing and Vendor development within heavy engineering,

steel plant equipment manufacturing, material handling systems,

and sheet metal & fabrication industries.
