Innovative modalities such as xRNA, Radioligand Therapies, and Gene & Cell Therapies require advanced packaging and delivery solutions that ensure safety, usability, and product quality for patients worldwide. The Parenteral Packaging team in Schaftenau is seeking a highly motivated technical expert to support the development of primary packaging and drug-device combination products. In this role, you will contribute your expertise to the development and implementation of innovative delivery systems, with a strong focus on prefilled syringes combined with needle safety devices.Working as part of cross-functional development teams, you will be responsible for the primary packaging activities within development projects and help ensure that packaging and delivery system solutions meet product, patient, regulatory, and manufacturing requirements.

About the Role

Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the primary packaging subject matter expert within cross-functional development teams and drive delivery of primary packaging activities throughout product development.Lead the technical development, assessment, and selection of container closure systems and drug-device combination products, with primary focus on prefilled syringes and needle safety systems.Apply knowledge in the areas of materials (glass, polymers, rubbers, silicone/lubricants, sterile barrier systems, adhesives) and manufacturing (injection molding, glass converting, rubber molding, assembly, fill & finish and transport validation)Communicate, address and solve problems (e.g. deviations and unexpected results from experiments) within own and broader area of responsibility; communicate effectively across organizational interfaces;Collaborate closely with component and device suppliers to evaluate new technologies, understand emerging industry developments, and assess their suitability for Novartis development programs.Provide technical contributions to regulatory submission documentation and support Regulatory Affairs with scientifically sound data and justifications related to primary packaging and combination productsContribute to technology innovation, best practice sharing, and continuous improvement activities within the Parenteral Packaging organization.RequirementsMaster or PhD degree in engineering, material sciences, pharmaceutical technology or similar5+ years experience in a similar role, preferred in primary packaging, medical devices, drug-device combination productsLeading and influencing in global matrix organization; strong communication / negotiation skills & listener, actively reaching out, able to understand and connect across functionsMentors and inspires others to solve technical issues / problemsExcellent skills in English, verbal and written.Other language skills, e.g. German are of advantageBenefits & RewardsAt Novartis, we're committed to reimagining medicine together - and rewarding the people who make it happen.Expected Annual Base Salary Range for role: €66,918 to €117,800The base salary offered is determined based on gender-neutral objectives, such as relevant skills, competencies and experience in accordance with the Novartis pay setting policy and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically.In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for a performance-based bonus depending on certain performance parameters.The rewards of being part of our team go far beyond base pay and incentives.
