The Senior Facilities Controls Engineer provides technical leadership and support for plant infrastructure systems that are critical to safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for supporting and optimizing facility systems such as power, water, compressed air, lighting, gas, HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and related utilities.


The position also leads infrastructure and equipment-related projects, supports preventive and corrective maintenance strategies, manages utility performance and spend, and serves as a key technical partner to Production, Maintenance, Plant Operations, contractors, and Engineering teams. Based on plant needs, this role may also support manufacturing equipment and process-related systems.

How You'll Create Possibilities


+ _Serve as the primary plant contact for technical support and consultation related to facility infrastructure and building support systems._


+ _Provide technical expertise on plant layout, utility distribution, connections into and out of the facility, and troubleshooting of facility operational issues._


+ _Support Plant Operations across multiple shifts to ensure continuity, reliability, and responsiveness._


+ _Oversee the effective operation, utilization, and reliability of facility support systems and building infrastructure, including:_


+ _Lighting_ _,_ _Air compressors_ _,_ _Electrical systems, including breaker maintenance_ _,_ _Plumbing_ _,_ _Vacuum pumps_ _,_ _Fire sprinkler systems_ _,_ _Chillers and cooling towers_ _,_ _HVAC systems_ _,_ _Boilers and heaters_ _,_ _Process waste systems_ _,_ _Drainage systems_ _,_ _Dock doors_ _,_ _Roofing_ _,_ _Fans_ _,_ _Backup generators_


+ _Plan and implement process and infrastructure improvements that enhance safety, increase manufacturing capacity, and reduce scrap._


+ _Lead equipment upgrades, replacements, and facility improvement projects in support of operational objectives._


+ _Support infrastructure design, technical specifications, and integration planning for new or modified systems._


+ _Partner with the PSO, contractors, and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) to ensure technical specifications are complete and aligned with plant and equipment strategies._


+ _Provide technical support, problem-solving, and direction to assigned production departments._


+ _Plan and support preventive maintenance activities to improve reliability and reduce downtime._


+ _Identify chronic or recurring equipment and infrastructure issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement sustainable corrective actions._


+ _Lead and support Level 2 troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair activities._


+ _Identify and prioritize significant maintenance issues related to facility infrastructure and develop action plans to address them._


+ _Conduct investigations into critical failures and communicate findings, recommendations, and corrective actions._


+ _Document Field Service Reports in the eAM system for repairs or adjustments involving:_


+ _Assembly area issues causing more than 30 minutes of downtime_


+ _Support area issues causing more than 2 hours of downtime_


+ _Ensure all completed work is documented in the eAM work management system, including any remaining open items._


+ _Ensure temporary corrective actions are not left in place without a follow-up work order for permanent repair._


+ _Act as the primary point of contact for coordinating facility-related work with Production and other support functions._


+ _Provide on-call support as needed to meet production requirements._


+ _Lead and direct Skilled Trades Maintenance personnel in support of operational priorities._


+ _Promote effective communication and information sharing across assigned areas and shifts to ensure timely escalation and issue resolution._


+ _Build strong working relationships with the Maintenance team by coaching, providing resources, and fostering a culture of accountability._


+ _Manage the plant utility budget._


+ _Monitor utility consumption and support efforts to minimize and control utility usage._

+ _Support safe operation of all facility systems in compliance with plant standards and applicable regulations._

+ _Perform Process Safety Management (PSM) Lead duties as the mechanical system integrity owner for the Refrigerant R600 Isobutane System._

What You'll Bring to Our Team


+ _Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent relevant work experience may be considered._


+ _Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in maintenance, facilities management, mechanical engineering, or a related manufacturing support role._


+ _Broad knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems within an industrial or manufacturing environment._


+ _Experience with mechanical and electrical controls systems._


+ _Experience managing or supporting flammable and/or hazardous chemical processes, including knowledge of:_


+ _Gas detection systems_ _,_ _Lower Explosive Limit (LEL)_ _,_ _Fire triangle concepts_ _,_ _Flammability and flashpoint_ _,_ _Explosion and fire risks_ _,_ _Critical operating parameters and safety limits_ _,_ _Safety systems and interlocks_ _,_


+ _Basic understanding of machining and maintenance-related processes, including turning, milling, welding, grinding, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)._


+ _Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated root cause analysis/problem-solving skills._


+ _Demonstrated project management experience._


+ _Previous leadership, supervisory, or direct coordination experience with Production Operations and Operators._


+ _Strong leadership capabilities, including interpersonal, facilitation, communication, and team-building skills._


+ _Proven analytical and technical skills, including application of Lean and Six Sigma tools._


+ _Experience managing skilled trades or working directly with skilled trades teams._


+ _Ability to translate long-term plans into effective daily execution._


+ _Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed._


+ _Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and experience with software/programming and PLCs._
