Senior Facilities Engineer – Natural Gas Infrastructure

Location: Houston, TX

About the Opportunity

Our client is a leading midstream energy infrastructure company focused on the transportation, storage, gathering, and processing of natural gas across major U.S. markets. With a strong commitment to operational excellence, reliability, and modernization, the company continues to invest heavily in facility optimization, engineering innovation, and advanced infrastructure solutions supporting critical energy systems.

This is an opportunity to join a highly collaborative engineering organization supporting large-scale natural gas facilities and infrastructure projects across gathering, treating, compression, and processing assets.

Position Summary

The Senior Facilities Engineer will provide technical leadership and engineering support for natural gas facilities including compressor stations, amine treating systems, dehydration facilities, and processing plants. This individual will play a key role in facility optimization, project execution, troubleshooting, and long-term infrastructure planning.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of process engineering expertise, operational understanding, and field-level execution experience within midstream or gas processing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for natural gas facilities including compression, dehydration, amine treating, and gas processing systems
  • Lead and support complex engineering and capital project initiatives from concept through execution
  • Develop scopes of work, support bid processes, and oversee facility design and construction activities
  • Perform process analysis, simulations, and optimization studies to improve plant performance and reliability
  • Develop cost estimates, technical specifications, and engineering evaluations for facility upgrades and new projects
  • Monitor system performance and develop short- and long-term facility improvement plans
  • Troubleshoot operational and engineering issues and provide practical, field-focused solutions
  • Support construction, commissioning, maintenance, and integrity-related activities across facility assets
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering studies, and written operating or maintenance procedures
  • Evaluate new technologies, equipment, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency
  • Contribute to project budgeting, forecasting, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Mentor junior engineers and support development of engineering standards and best practices
  • Provide ongoing technical support to field operations teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or related discipline preferred)
  • Minimum 6+ years of relevant experience within midstream, gas processing, or natural gas infrastructure environments
  • Strong knowledge of natural gas facilities including compression, treating, dehydration, and processing systems
  • Experience supporting capital projects, facility upgrades, and operational troubleshooting
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and make sound engineering decisions in fast-paced environments
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Experience

  • Heavy process modeling experience, preferably using ProMax
  • Sour gas treating experience
  • Direct operations or field engineering experience
  • Gas processing plant experience
  • Experience supporting brownfield facility optimization and expansion projects

Why This Opportunity?

  • Stable, growth-oriented infrastructure platform with significant capital investment initiatives
  • Exposure to large-scale natural gas systems and complex engineering challenges
  • Strong compensation package including annual incentive and long-term equity participation
  • Opportunity to work closely with operations, engineering, and project execution leadership
  • High-impact role supporting critical U.S. energy infrastructure systems
