Purpose of Position
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This position is the senior classification in the Airport Facilities Maintenance Specialist series. Performs a variety of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to area of assignment within the Redmond Municipal Airport including facilities and parking lots.
Performs a full range of facilities maintenance for Airport buildings and structures. This includes corrective and preventative maintenance, construction, carpentry, demolition, cabinetry, and remodeling projects for Airport facilities; maintains HVAC, baggage, and parking revenue systems. Incumbents in this role will act in a more senior role in areas with HVAC Systems, boilers, and piping within and around the Airport, and may provide direction to junior roles in this job series.

Essential Job Functions
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs basic and more skilled Airport facilities maintenance tasks, including painting, lighting, plumbing, and heating/cooling.
Performs construction, carpentry, remodeling, roofing, and woodworking tasks such as building of structures, fences, furniture, signs, and cabinets.
Performs concrete and finish work such as sidewalks, street patch repairs, ramps, pads, and driveways; set forms, pour concrete, and completes final finish work.
Performs basic and more skilled building maintenance and repairs such as scheduled general maintenance for HVAC, boilers, baggage, parking revenue components and electrical computerized controls, plumbing, interior and exterior of all municipal structures for all structures within all Airport functions.
Maintains landscapes, turf, shrubs, trees, and flower beds. Trims trees and shrubs.
Operates and maintains automatic and hand irrigation systems.
Installs irrigation equipment.
Performs routine preventative maintenance on baggage handling and paid parking revenue systems. Responds to equipment malfunctions in a timely manner.
Reads blueprints and maps; reads and understands plans, orders and/or other documents as required. Maintains records and reports on projects as required.
Performs inspections and promptly reports any vehicle, component concerns, or issues to a supervisor and/or the Fleet Services Division through the Service Request program.
Operates in a competent, safe manner a wide variety of vehicles and equipment required to perform duties in assigned area.
Operates a motor vehicle regularly to attend to building maintenance and landscape needs.
Performs basic operational and safety checks on vehicles and maintains both interior and exterior cleanliness.
Performs outdoor clean-up tasks on Airport properties, including parking lots and on rights-of-way.
Performs snow & ice removal and applies deicer/gravel to facilities and parking lot sidewalks.
Security knowledge, responsibilities and active participation are mandatory requirements due to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations.
Security responsibilities and training will be provided. Employee accepts and acknowledges responsibilities upon issuance of a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
Carries assigned phone to respond to maintenance requests/emergencies.
Performs other duties as assigned within the Redmond Municipal Airport property.
Work Environment
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
An employee in this class may be assigned to any division within the Redmond Municipal Airport and is expected to perform duties independently or as part of a work crew often without direct supervision after assignment of duties. The employee generally works under the direct supervision of the Airport Facilities Manager and /or the Airport Facilities Supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision is not a function of this position. Employee may assist in operational procedures to other employees, and providing direction to temporary employees.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds and occasionally lift weights up to one hundred (100) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include the ability to hear audible alarms and two-way radio transmissions.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED:
Telephone system, mobile radio, cell phone; operates pickup/backhoe, dump truck, sweeper, chain/trimming saws, snowplow/blower, miscellaneous power and hand tools, multi-meters, grader, weed eaters, lawn edgers, loader, riding and manual lawn mowers, and other landscaping equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions; near moving mechanical parts; vibrations; exposed to fumes, airborne particle, chemicals, occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to adverse weather conditions.
The noise level in the field environment is usually moderate, except during certain duties when noise levels may be loud.
Employees in this position are required to work in areas or around equipment which may meet or exceed the OSHA Hearing Conservation sound level. Employees in this position will participate in the City of Redmond Hearing Conservation Program.
This position will be shifting work that includes weekends, evenings, and holidays.
