The future of aerospace and defense starts here.

Ursa Major was founded to revolutionize how America and its allies access and apply high-performance propulsion, from hypersonics to solid rocket motors, satellite maneuvering and launch. We design and deliver propulsion and defense systems that solve the most urgent and critical national security demands.

As Ursa Major continues to grow, we’re looking for a Facilities Maintenance Technician to support our expanding operations. This role is essential in ensuring the safety, functionality, and efficiency of our facilities—an environment that reflects our commitment to excellence.

We need a highly skilled, hands-on technician who shows up every day, rain or shine, with a "challenge accepted" mindset for every tough task. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-demand environment and takes pride in hard work. If you’re passionate about aerospace, problem-solving, and making a tangible impact, we want you on our team.

In this role, you will be responsible for critical infrastructure upkeep, ensuring optimal performance of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and structural systems that support our manufacturing and testing operations. You will also manage contractors and external vendors for specialized projects that exceed the scope of internal resources. If you’re ready to be part of something big and take ownership of your work, apply today and help shape the future of Ursa Major.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, and mechanical systems to maximize operational uptime.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot failures in high-demand industrial environments, including test facility infrastructure, compressed air systems, and process piping.
  • Oversee multi-disciplinary contractors performing specialized repairs, installations, and system upgrades.
  • Develop and refine maintenance schedules and reliability improvement strategies for critical facility assets.
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA standards, and local building codes.
  • Conduct risk assessments and root cause analyses for equipment failures to drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) for non-test facility operations and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols.
  • Utilize technical schematics, engineering drawings, and equipment manuals to perform complex troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate service records, work logs, and asset management data within Ursa Major’s work order system.
  • Provide technical mentorship and hands-on training to junior technicians, fostering skill development within the team.
  • Assist in planning and executing capital improvement projects, facility expansions, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Monitor facility energy consumption and implement efficiency initiatives to reduce operational costs.
  • Support critical system response efforts, including power failures, water system malfunctions, and environmental control system disruptions.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 5-8 years of progressive experience in facility operations, critical infrastructure maintenance, or industrial plant environments.
  • Advanced technical expertise in multiple disciplines, such as power distribution, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, or structural maintenance.
  • Proven ability to lead maintenance projects and execute system upgrades with minimal oversight.
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience working in aerospace, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
  • Proficiency in welding, fabrication, and rigging for heavy equipment relocation.
  • Strong background in PLC-controlled systems, automation, and industrial power distribution.
  • Ability to interpret engineering blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical schematics.
  • Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) and energy efficiency strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with finish carpentry, structural repair, and commercial-grade facility maintenance.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and digital work order management platforms.

Additional Information:

  • This is an hourly position reporting to the Facilities Manager.
  • Work environment includes office spaces, manufacturing areas, test facilities, and outdoor operations.
  • This position requires full-time, on-site presence; remote work is not an option.
