The Opportunity | Te heinga

We're looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Field Staff - Turf to join our Parks and Open Spaces team in this permanent, full-time role.

As a key member of the team, you'll be responsible for delivering our turf culture work programme safely, efficiently and to a high standard. From sports fields and parks to other important community green spaces, you'll ensure turf maintenance activities are completed effectively to achieve quality outcomes and enhance the experience of our community.

This hands-on senior role includes coordinating and supporting a small team, providing day-to-day direction and leading by example in the field. You'll use your technical turf knowledge and practical experience to plan and prioritise work, monitor quality standards, and help drive continuous improvement across turf maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities | Ng haepapa matua

  • Manage a small team to deliver works as efficiently and effectively as possible
  • Assess and carryout turf work as scheduled/directed to the standard required at all times.
  • Ensure all health and safety standards are upheld including traffic management requirements
  • Engage with stakeholders and provide a quality customer service.
  • Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation
  • Digital competency for reporting and recording of site works

Essential Skills and Experience | Ng pkenga me ng wheako

  • Preferably - L4 National Certificate Sports Turf Management
  • Field experience in the maintenance of Parks and Reserves that may include cemeteries, horticulture, arboriculture, and/or turf culture.
  • STMS equivalent qualification
  • Drivers licence for relevant vehicle classes. Class 2 preferable
  • General fitness at a level to be able to cope with the demands of the job.
