    Job DescriptionEstablished in 1919 and traded on the NYSE, Standard Motor Products, Inc. Additionally, SMP provides customized solutions for vehicle control and thermal management products in diversified end markets represented by its Engineered Solutions segment.Globally, SMP employs over 6,000 employees across nearly 40 manufacturing, distribution, and engineering facilities and offices located in North America, Europe and Asia.Location: Greenville, SC. Senior Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring SMP has accurate financial records & in supporting finance transformation initiatives. The role is a hybrid position based in our Greenville, SC location.Primary Activities for the RolePrepare, review, and post journal entries (benefits, marketing & other accruals, foreign trial balances, segment reporting, US GAAP adjustments) with appropriate documentationPerform balance sheet account reconciliations (AR/AP, accruals, payroll-related accounts, US GAAP/elimination-related accounts, intercompany and others as deemed necessary) and proactively resolve variancesSupport the implementation of the payroll automated entry process & related post implementation monitoring activitiesOwn assigned close calendar tasks and deliverables; ensure compliance with close timelines and reporting requirementsSupport the implementation of the direct interface of foreign trial balances into Oracle FCCS & related post implementation monitoring activitiesPrepare & maintain accounting & tax support schedulesPerform ad hoc analyses and additional responsibilities as neededSupport manager in finance transformation initiatives (e.g. shortening of close, automation, standardization, centralization)Develop strong relationships with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, AP/AR, HR/Payroll, and Operations to partner on streamlining cross-functional handoffs and ensuring data qualitySupport current & future system implementations (e.g. Oracle Planning, task checklist, reconciliation tool)Experience & Skills for the RoleBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance4-6 years of progressive accounting experience; Big 4 experience & CPA preferredAbility to exercise proper judgment, high attention to detail, team player/collaborative, self-starter & independent thinkingStrong understanding of US GAAP; multi-national public company experience preferred; SOX control experience preferredContinuous improvement mindset: Comfortable navigating change and actively contributes to refining and improving processes as the organization scalesProficient usage of Microsoft 365 apps (Excel, Sharepoint, Copilot, Power BI, Power Query, etc.)Hands‑on experience with Oracle FCCS / Planning, or other similar automation tools preferredStrong written and verbal communication skillsStandard Motor Products is an equal opportunity employer.
